John Terry... you rat!

I wonder if this will result in some poor performances on the field by JT. Sol Campbell England centre back extraordinaire?

Matthew Upson for captain tbh.

The article also says his dad is a drug dealer. With this guy stealing people's partners how is this muppet england captain?

Gerrard/Lampard/Barry are better captains surely?

Like Linoge said, once he loses the respect of his team mates on the field that's when he should be replaced as captain.

I doubt many of his team 'mates' will be inviting him round to meet the mrs anymore :D

Lampard is hardly better, he's a serial cheat as well(if you care about those sort of things). Lets not get started on Gerrard again and Barry likely isn't a first choice starter.

Pretty much all the england team are bell ends, it doesn't really matter which one of the ****s you pick.

Good example of the awful media in our country, I read a story about Eduardo, a guy was limping around in London (had an operation on his foot or something) and spotted him eating in a restaurant and waited an hour for him to finish his meal (some people are too obsessed), Eduardo saw him waiting for so long and when he came out he spoke to him while his wife went to the car, he spoke to him for 25 minutes about football and his injury etc. then asked the kid how he was getting home, he said he was walking so Eduardo waited while he rang for a taxi and paid for it.

Even though he sounds like a thoroughly nice guy, most of this country see him as some kind of monster due to the press. It's bad.

^^^Agreed.

Its a shame this country now gets its kicks from watching the mighty fall. We need to regain some respect and admiration for people with talent instead of letting the green eyed monster running wild.

Lol! Rooney a role model?! Hahaha.

How is he not? He works his arse off in training, and has become a superb player for it. He is passionate. He runs all game. He is fantastic technically. He is respected and liked in the dressing room. What more do you need to be a good role model?

Yes, he loses it occasionally, but this is getting rarer, and isn't a great issue for me anyway. I'd rather have a captain who displays some drive and passion than a Lampard or Barry who, while seeming like nice enough guys and fantastic players, don't outwardly display any real desire.

lol if you think thats bad then i met a lad at uni who used to play for bolton as a youth and insisted that el spitting on kids diouf is one of the nicest men he has ever met and that the rest of the team where **** holes in comparison

Rooney should never be England captain, others teams will wind him up knowing they can get a reaction, its just the way it goes, reputation, same with Ronaldo and him getting booked for diving when he was fouled etc. Always think it should be midfielders that get the captaincy.

How would that be anymore likely if he is made captain?

Difficult to say who the England captaincy should go to considering all the main contenders (Gerrard, Terry, Lampard, Rooney, Ferdinand) have all done pretty **** things in the past. Personally I'd give it to Gerrard if he finds his form again, if not then keep it with Terry who at the moment is definately the best CB in England.

Also DM not sure how you can say Lampard is better than Gerrard for England? Lampard is sometimes truly shambolic...

I can't honestly believe that some people are actually buying in to the media fueled crud and arguing that Terry should lose the England captaincy over this, if there were any decent transfers going on to help sell papers this would be just be an article continued on page 65 in a tiny column.
His actions are hardly going to influence any starry eyed kids and make them try to get off with their mate's birds at school as all they care about is what they see on the pitch, and he was awesome again today by the way, so the apparent issue of him being an unsuitable role model is laughable.
Who really cares, just as who really cared when Rooney banged a fossil etc :/

And this should be the only thing being debated too (in SA anyway).

Providing this doesn't affect his peformances/captaincy (for England obviously) then I couldn't care less.
