Do you think that i should get a pc joypad or a Joypad Converter for Playstation to USB PC?

i can't decide i've never used a pc joypad for gameing wheras ive used playstation. is a ps joypad very compatible for gaming on pc games?

There was a thread re this about a week ago.

Most people like xbox360 pads for pc use. I personally use a psx>usb converter but I imagine both are good.

Use it to play PES6 quite a lot and it feels no different to a PS2 pad. I'm currently playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance and I've not had a problem with it. It recognised the pad and configured the buttons accordingly. As I said in this thread I've not tried it with any beat em ups like Streetfighter.

well, they are better. most people with xb360's here have used ps2 pad's and usb adaptor.

in short, better controller, better dpad (not great, but better), no input lag as you get with convertors, no issues with the pad being stuck in a position and constantly scrolling on game menus, fuly working rumble, customisable deadzones (with xbcd drivers)

thats pretty much why its better, plus (preference) its a better fit for most people's hands

I was talking about the "PES6" pad as compared to the pad converters (which, fyi, have no input lag unless you buy the Dodgy Bob's Discount Pad Converters brand).

I'm sure the xbox 360 pad is great, probably even better than the psx/2 + pad converter and no doubt reasonably cheap if you get the wired edition. I'm pretty sure that most normal PC pads are very pricey if you want anything half-decent, however.

(EDIT: Retail shops do sell pad converters but you're much better off ordering one of the smartjoy type converters online (see point re: "Dodgy Bob's Discount Pad Converters")

i have a ps2 convertor and yes, it does lag compared to a conventional usb pad. i bought a convertor with the hopes of finding the best pad for the pc (way before the xb360 was released) but it just had too many niggles. My thrustmaster dual power II is a better pad infact, but its on the large side.

Then you've obviously got a dubious pad or converter.

I've used lots of different pads, both via converters (psx, n64, snes) and without (various sidewinders and saitek pads) and I've never had lag problems with any of them. The only problems I do have is that the N64's analogue needs calibrating now and then (psx analogue is fine).

I use the smart joy brand of pad converters. Yourself?

its not the convertor! im not talking massively obviously lag, im talking enough to throw timings out on button presses ect, next to my ms pad (and my thrustmaster) its obvious.

as for the convertor, ive had a superjoy box 3 and a convertor from a competitor (which is a rebranded joytech). both largely the same. Besdies, its not as if im the only person who noticed it.

In both this thread and the thread linked to above, you are.

You must just be unlucky. I've never had any issues with joypad lag and both myself and various friends use various joypads a *lot* with our PCs.

edit: I realise I probably sound a bit arsey/"I know better" or something but I'm just stating my experiences...which covers about 20/30 different pad/converter setups on various systems/games.

thats becuase there arent many people who have tried both solutions, and suddenly when i mention its two different convertors you change your tune. I'm not here to argue, im just telling you the truth. They lag, compared to normal pad. The difference may be minimal, they may at times be very noticable, but it is always there and if i could be bothered to search, id find more examples of it. That, coupled with the other problems that virtually everybody has experianced at one time or another, is enough to seal it. the xb360 pad is simply a better solution.

edit: and yes, you do sound arsy.

I guess i'll have to get more opinions on this topic before i decide on what is the best item to get.
either an xbox 360 pad/pc pad or an converter, i already have ps1 and 2 joypad so thats fine.

using an xbox pad here, always like the position of the analoge sticks on the xbox pads compared to other pads (ie ps style layout) as the xbox one just feels more comfortable and natural position for the left stick
