Junior Doctors Strikes

Maybe for you but not for me. So don't drag me or anybody else down with you. If you need to, go and seek some professional help.

None of my comments was directed at you until you decided to jump in.
Of course they were as I'm an older person who you think should not receive medical help don't you?

Because Im over 40 and that's what men should do at my age as an general check up. I make sure everything is still working as they should. Just like with motor vehicles and MOT's.

Instead of waiting for something to go wrong later on then drop down dead when its too late.

This is one of the reasons why women live longer than men. Women have more regular check ups at the doctors.
You said that nature should take its course for older people, so live by your own philosophy and stop using doctors and just let nature guide you through your life.

Here you go, this is a small promo video I did for the company I work for a few weeks back Feel free to take a look

My body is a temple for virtue...........Because it is :p and the evidence is posted right there for everyone to see.

So I will continue to let nature take its course, while I be more fit and healthy than 99.9% of people on this planet, never mind the people in this thread! While a number of you complain about the NHS, with your over hanging stomach looking like you are 6 months pregnant
Can be as healthy all you want. That doesn’t stop being hit by a car or a bus lol. Or are you immune to anything that might change your health in an instant?

On the BBC suvery is a small number of GPs who think patients are putting problems on, that kind of thought needs to be weeded out of them via training (all medical staff not just GPs), because if they start judging patients and get it wrong, it leaves people untreated.

As I said before get a medicine chest. Hospitals are not for minor ailments. Tough it out.
Its a pass the parcel game, I think if a patient has proven they tried their GP but there was no response (or no adequate response), then a&e should either force the GP to see them, or deal with the patient themselves. Otherwise its just ping ponging the patient leaving them untreated. Ingrowing toenails can become serious problems, and that comment from the NHS managers is a signal of a cultural problem, where they want to wait for problems to become serious before taking action.

I know ambulance crews are able to force a GP to see a patient, there should be a way for a&e triage to do the same, I would support that, rather than just sending the patient away.

Well there isnt. And look at the post above, people are stupid. They want to see a doctor when they dont need one hence triage is vital to weed out the people who dont actually need to be seen or could be seen elsewhere for minor stuff.
Where is elsewhere? I made my own suggestions and was laughed out of the building. Just because there isnt enough resources, we dont have to accept it as acceptable.

Also ultimately we cant have receptionists making medical decisions, triage is still a medical decision. A sore throat sensation could potentially be throat cancer as an example. At the very least it needs to be someone with experience in the field even if its a nurse or clinician, and pharmacists where I got laughed at are a clear step up from a receptionist.

Ah yes better not have health care professionals judge patients health problems......

Better to indulge all the fantastical symptoms and massively over investigate/over treat.

Reported symptoms should always be taken seriously, if they not its a cultural issue, I think the only time it might be acceptable not to if, is the patient is in clear mental distress, or have a illness that affects their rational thought process.

I think I have my answer to the question now thank you, it seems you dont believe in caution first. Over treating is far more preferable to under treating.

What happens to your patients with genuine issues you deem fantasy?

Not saying you have to diagnose with whatever the patient is saying wrong with them, but to just throw out what they telling you as some kind of fantasy is really disrespectful to the people coming to you for help, and risks leaving them untreated.

How many public messages do we need on tv telling us to see out gp with xyz symptoms and yet most of us cannot even see a gp face to face and even worse with them being biast that their precious time is being wasted. Pathetic. It’s why hospitals are being smashed. GPs have tapped out.

A sore throat apparent for more than a week should be investigated if it is not cured by a packet of 'Throaties', otherwise it is a sore throat. I have a near permanent cough caused primarily by historic smoking. I am not going to a GP with that

I hope you have at least had it checked at some point. Although I'd probably recommend going private...

The thing is GPs are seeing more patients than ever before. The need has risen and the staff and resource for them haven’t. I do 12 hour days. How much more do you think I should be doing? In no way have GPs tapped out. Due the way they are run they are probably the one area that has got closer to keeping pace with demand, but still not enough
