Nope I had that option alsoOne of my mates who did a jury service said he could go out have food and go back and then claim back as long as he had the receipt. Might be different every jury service though.

My Dad passed away in 2021 aged 83 and my Mum is currently 78, neither were called for jury duty.I’ve never done jury service but I would. Never been called up yet but they recon at least once in a life time you will be called up minimum of once.

£5 wouldn’t get lunch here!We didn't need the receipt for food, I think it was something like £5 per day you got back and the clerk told us to claim for food even if we didn't have any.
When I did it we got Luncheon Vouchers but I'm not sure if those are even a thing anymore! We didn't need the receipt for food, I think it was something like £5 per day you got back and the clerk told us to claim for food even if we didn't have any.

This is my expectation tbh!I was amazed at how run down the court was. The historic parts of the building were lovely, but the "behind the scenes" rooms were all reminiscent of the 1980's / 90's as far as facilities and decor go.
I think the work documents that my HR provided said I need to come to work if I'm not needed in the afternoon Did you do that? Sounds like it's never quite the in-court-from-9-5-solid as I sort first thought when I got the summons. The first week I got to go home at lunch time most days as wasn't selected. You spend most of the time sitting in a room waiting - I think the latest I got sent home was 3pm. It was very boring.
A senior director I work with was summoned recently and acted like he was jesus coming in for the 2nd half of the day when not needed in the afternoon. Good to know he may have been mandated by HR, lols.I think the work documents that my HR provided said I need to come to work if I'm not needed in the afternoon Did you do that? Yeah I have older family who haven't either - it's supposedly random after all. I thought it was a good life experience and in all honestly, it made me a bit annoyed about how useless the CPS can be.My Dad passed away in 2021 aged 83 and my Mum is currently 78, neither were called for jury duty.

The annoying thing is, they don't tell you in the letter to bring your own soap!No you put in a cell for the duration of your service with a glass of water every 5 hours.
Interestingly enough my company policy also says this; How would HR even know. Free day off TBH
Now, I presume this doesn't mean subsistence or travel claims right? It says loss of earnings for which I'm not going to claim -- as the company continues to pay me.You will normally be required to submit claims for loss of earnings to the court/tribunal and provide evidence of this to the company. Any money received from the court/tribunal will be deducted from your salary
