Just about to start Morrowind

Hah I remember getting this with my 5900Ultra, I never really played pc rpgs back then and I had no idea what elder scrolls was. In any case I started it up and was amazed at the water... but I had a frame rate of about 5 so I was pretty miffed I just bought this £350 card and I couldnt play it ><
Totally forgot about the game and when I did remember years later I felt it looked too dated.

Is the storyline really THAT good? I need a comparison :P

I have realised that it was the Seydaneen docks mod which was duplicating the npc's for some reason, so i will not be playing with that. I have New Syda Neen, which works fine, and looks better actually.

I can also recommend the following mods though, as i have got them working and they look good-
Animated Morrowind

Animal Realism
At Home Achemy
Better Bodies - needed with overhaul
Better heads
Bottle replacer
Book jackets morrowind
Combat enhanced
Darknuts creature textures
Darknuts Armour textures

Darknuts texture mods are very good.

These are the mods that i have installed so far, along with loads more downloaded and so far i have not had any conflicts.

The best Elder scrolls game imo (well, in comparison to Oblivion); would also love to check out the older ones like Arena and Daggerfall.

I have encountered one problem, but i'm not too bothered about it tbh. The bridge in Seydaneen is not right, npc's are falling through it as these pics show-

This is almost certainly down to the New Seydaneen mod. But it makes the rest of it looks quite good so i will probably just leave it tbh

I have just added the following mods with no problems-

Romance- allows you to marry/romance any npc
The Neverhalls- looks like a nice dungeon/quest mod
The Ultimate Knight shop- shop with new armour/weapons etc
The Underground 2- quest mod
Travelling Merchants
Vivec expansion
Water life

However i had crashes/bugs with the following mods-
Vality's bitter coast mod- i think might have clashed with overhaul
Weapons comilation list- i think because it adds weapons to the levelled list possibly, and you need to install something else first
World of faces.
Galsiah's character development- it'sa big mod which changes a lot. Game wouldn't load up with it on for me.

Really looking forward to playing this now with all these mods

Morrowind, bloodmoon and tribunal.BSA's.

It is all explained step-by-step in the google docs walkthrough of Overhaul sound and graphics, if you are installing that mate:)

In the Google doc, it mentions at step 16 to open the Morrowind Launcher. But I don't know what or where that is? It's not in the game folder and isn't part of the Overhaul download?

*Edit* Nevermind, worked it out.

Doesn't it open automatically when you open morrowind? otherwise it should be in the morrowind folder. btw, i found that it was important to run everything as admin as they say

I've just installed the overhall and I am getting bad FPS? I installed it exactly how it said.

Core I7 @ 3.7ghz
6gig ram
GTX 280
Running at 1920x1080 with no AA or AF.

In mge there is an option to 'keep constant FPS'. Might be worth trying to input a value that you wouldn't mind and see if it works

My FPS isn't great bt it is generally around 40

btw, you say no AA or AF, but you know that the overhaul mod adds it automatically unless you change it. I think default is 8xAA

Yeah I forgot that it pops up when you start the game.

This installation walkthrough is giving me real headaches though. It didn't mention to install 1.1 and 1.2 before processing through the installation. So now I've applied them I've had to go back to the beginning and it's not working. I'm guessing because I've already half installed some of the stuff.

Going through it step by step, it says to run the main mod installation exe and then all the stuff auto opens. But if you apply 1.1 and then 1.2, MGSO.exe opens but then the stuff after doesn't auto open and you have to go find it manually.

You have to apply the patches first though because otherwise you don't have the MLOX folder in the Morrowind Steam folder. But if you apply the patches first you can't follow through the walkthrough properly.

*Edit*

At stage 19 it says to locate the MLOX folder within steam>morrowind. However the MLOX folder is contained within patch 1.1, which the walkthrough has not told me to install. So the MLOX folder is not there.

I ran everything as the walkthrough said then played it for a bit, and then i realised that i hadn't installed the patches so did them a few hours later and it worked fine.
I definitely ran the patches after doing everything else though

Also i have run MLOX after installing every mod. and i'm not sure if you need to but i have run the distance land creator quite a few times with all mods checked, as i wasn't sure if you had to run it every time a landscape was changed

Yeah. I can see the MLOX folder in the main mod folder now. For some reason it wasn't there on my first run. I've deleted local content and put in my backup. I'll try again. Thanks for the quick replies.

Right, got it all running. However I'm getting about 10fps in Seyda Neen. Running two 5770s in Crossfire and a 3.4ghz Q8300. I've tried playing with a few settings in MGEgui to get the frames up but to no avail. It's too late now to keep playing around so will tackle this tomorrow.

Also I've noticed the water and ground look pretty poor compared to rest of the game improved by the Overhaul mod. I'm wondering if they're not being imporoved. Will post screens tomorrow.

10 fps sounds too low, I get good framerates on a 6950 which shouldn't be that much more powerful than a 5770 crossfire setup.

As to the other problems, make sure you have antialiasing disabled in MGE - the shaders don't run with it on. Also if you are using the steam version make sure you reset the file dates on Morrowind/Tribunal/Bloodmoon.bsa.
