I know that some people are going to disagree with what I say but here goes.....

How many of these little scrotes have got away with assaulting people becasue 9/10 they know that the other person isn't going to defend himself.

Last year a group of teenagers 18 ish, half a dozen of them, decided they were going to use my wifes £30,000 Audi as a climbing frame.

I went out and politely asked them to stop at this point one of them decided he was the big hard man and gave me a load of abuse and threats about what he was going to do, I stepped forward he raised his hand and without question I put him on his behind.

At this point he blubbed like a two year old and surprise surprise his mates weren't too keen on getting stuck in. I have never seen them again or had any sort of reprisal.

Maybe what I did was wrong but also maybe he will think twice before wanting to take the world on again.

hehe, good on you my man :)

This can go one of two ways. It can work as it has for you or it can result in your house being bricked all night long.
Plenty of people have stood up for themselves in this way and been killed for it.
It is a risk you must consider before you take action, however it is precisely the action I have taken myself in the past.

wrong (in my eyes), like you said you knew people were going to disagree here, but what if the OP had tried harder to fight back and then one of them decided to knife him, or what if a group of lads come at you and you manage to fight your way free doing some serious damage to someone in the process, then your the one thats going to get done for assualt, end of the day we should'nt have to have confrontations with scum like this in todays society, I think you was lucky in your case, it could have lead to a lot worse.

I agree and I was not saying that what I did was right and it could have backfired but also i think he was under no illusions that I was not messing about!

I also think that this raises another issue, the one of that we should not be afraid to defend ourselves...

Sometimes standing up for yourself or fighting back can have a positive outcome, other times it can backfire badly and make things much worse. It's not easy to say what the answer is really. Well, effective law enforcement and punishment would be a start...

Britain lead by Labour leads to the rise of the Chav - its not coincidence.

Are you saying thugish youths didn't exist before the current Labour government?

Or that they were dealt with more harshly by the Tories?

That will probably be the case a lot of the time and if the rest of them decide they want a ruck, there's one less to deal with.

I'm quite lucky. I come from a really rough area but have not really had to deal with any hassle. Mind you, being built like a roadblock tends to help!

I got the **** knocked out of me last June for being English by a load of Welsh people, no problems in 3 years at university as well.

After that because I feel if I'd been more sober I could have defended myself quite well (I like a good scrap :D) I just don't put myself in the situation. That means not getting hammered in town centres and moving on when things turn a bit hostile. I probably sound paranoid but I just won't let it happen again.

Sorry to hear about what happened to you...sad state of affairs.

I am saying that Labours traditions of encouraging lazy people surviving on welfare that breads children with little respect for others, creates a problem yob culture. Of course such things happened before but the "Rise of the Chav" has definitely florished under the Labour government with their policies and spreading money to the wrong places.

Sorry to hear that mate.

Chavs, bad attitude, drug addictions.

Some one needs to pay for their addictions, and that some one is unfortunatly you, i really hope they catch these discusting scum bags.

Of course they existed. Street thugs are nothing new. It seems every generation has a different type of thug. The only difference is that back then brands like "Nike" and "Adidas" weren't household names and the youngens were still dressed according to their parent's choices.

As somebody has already said, when you significantly grow past "that age" they simply drop off your radar. As do you to them.

Perhaps he is suggesting that recent changes in policy to dealing with such people, the rise of the single mum council baby factory, lack of empowerment of teachers and policemen all stem from Labours social policies and manipulations as well as their cradle to grave welfare handouts.

I don't think moving country is neccesary, just getting out of the cities.

When I can afford to move out and buy myself a house I think I will find somewhere out in the countryside.

Hi matey,

I was assaulted once last year and the year before... both times ending up in hospital needing stitches. Never bothered reporting em to the police (the 2nd time the police just stood by and watched).

6 or so monthes later someone from here pointed out to someone that they could file a claim for compensation through a group set up with support from the goverment, that provide payouts to people who are victims of violent crime.

Since it's very recent - you've reported it to the police - and actually had things stolen (mobile/money) you will almost certainly recieve a few grand. Granted it will take about 10 monthes, but you'l feel better when you get it ! ;)

I've had less hassle since moving from Bicester (and Oxford) to Nottingham. And you know the rep this place has!
