amazing how many 980Ti owners don't have the time to play games at the moment due to other commitments

I'm sure its a good card - but I'd have waited another week or so

the future 2nd hand prices of 980Tis will be - IMO - dictated by the 1070 benchmark results when they come out

I bought one for MadVR, struggled a bit at 4K (although I didn't have any profiles set up at the time), changed the monitor to 1080 and it works flawlessly for my old DVD's (and pr0n). 4K video content looks no different on either monitor tbh, at least not sub 27"

Asus don't allow warranty transfer - so unless the person you bought it from is going to help with warranty claim further down the line - you may well have just bought a card without any warranty.

I've just bought a 980ti having sold my Titan-X based rig. It's a great card and decent for £375 in the current market... I don't think they will drop much more than that when the 1070/1080 are on the market as the 1070/1080 aren't going to have much better performance than the 980ti. My bet is only the 1080 will slightly edge it out performance wise.

I was going to wait for the 1080ti, but then I discovered that my spare GPU doesn't have displayport, so I can't even run my Asus 144Hz monitor for non-gaming uses :S

£375.00 is rapidly becoming the going price now on Ebay so you bought a decent card that will play all current games very well. There's still several 4-6 year old cards that command £100+ 2nd hand so I can't see them just becoming worthless!

Due to recent advances in CUDA crypto mining the advantage that AMD had for a few years has been reduced significantly so there's still a use there for them. I tested my 980 Ti recently and it was mining ETH at 20 MH/s almost as good as the much vaunted AMD 290/380 cards.

My 980 Ti will probably end up in my spare system to replace the venerable GTX 670 which has served me for almost 4 years and will drive my race sim setup.

I'll be keeping my Ti's until my 1080s are in. If they perform as leaked that is.

Amount of owners panicking is ridiculous. 1080 at £600 ain't going to push the 980Ti down to £200. Even the 970 founders is £375.

I'll not be expecting much of a drop on the Ti's even after the 1080 release. I'd think they will drop after the 1070 release depending on performance. By then my Ti's will be long gone.

1080p 144hz is fine with a 980Ti. I have 2 currently and have no issues pushing 144hz 1440p on bf4.

£200 for second hand though? Sure, the new price probably wont get that low.
Debatable although I must admit the market (eBay) is valuing them more than I do at the moment :D. At £375 for a brand new 1070 with all the new features, 16nm node, proper warranty, what does that mean for the brand new price of a 980 Ti and then second hand. £75 isn't much money these days so not sure the Ti brand new would even sell for £300 either. Second hand price? Closer to £200 I think but the market will probably value them more than I will.

It will partly depend on the availability of the new cards. If it's rubbish and/or the 1070 does not match a 980Ti at least on sheer performance (ignoring the new tech and features),then the demand for 980 Ti's will probably stay higher for a while longer.

My understanding is that the 1070 will have equivalent performance to the 980ti along with 2Gb more VRAM and better DX12 support for a cost of around £320 (non founders). If this is shown to be the case once we have proper benchmarks used prices for the 980ti will have to drop to around £275 for them to be a worthwhile purchase.

Dunno, 275 second hand vs 320 new in your example doesnt stack up either. £200 man, 200 :D

£200 for a second hand 980ti no chance!!!, amd 280x's are still going for £100 and thats a 4 year old card. IF the 1070 is as fast and costs £375 then i can see 980ti's going for £300.

So £75 difference between a brand new card with the same same performance, much faster at VR, full warranty, 2GB extra ram, 16m latest tech, new features.....and an old tech card that might not even have a valid warranty, and could be a year old, could have been overclocked to an inch of it's life ?

I'm not saying they definately won't go for that but paying £300 would be madness IMO. Also note that the non reference(non founders edition) 1070 (same performance) will be closer to £300 anyway - brand new :D .

Old cards (like 280)will also drop again once the new cards hit the market, even more so when Polaris appear.

I have a 730 that I expect will be worth a bag crisps :D - an old stale packet at that with a hole in the top of the bag so they're all nice and chewy

Nvidias price estimation is £300. Which is the base minimum for new cards. They are likely to be just as costly as the founders if not more depending on the card.

970 is equal to a 780Ti. You still see 780Ti's going for £250 though.

My estimate is Ti's will be £3-400 until the 1070 release where they will drop to around £250 like the 780Ti's did.

There are crazy mad people on eBay. Ive seen old cards go for as much as new ones. I've seen dead gpu's and CPUs go for £100-150+.

You already bought it, and you've justified the purchase to yourself about 6 times in the OP.

So what does it matter, it's done and you're happy. Just enjoy it.

This is one thing that swayed me from the latest and greatest still got a little doubt though :( I think I made the right choice for these reasons ...

I am stuck with 1080p for a good while, still no monitors worth it at the moment they all have caveats and cost over £600 for a decent one ! I can not really justify spending in assess of £600 on a single gpu the flagship pascal will cost that then what do I do wait for a waterblock and worry about fitting it or a model with one fitted that costs £800+ knowing NVidia they wont be cheap!!

Also I got it for a good price only weeks old with full warranty and receipt and yes buyer will help with warranty I got it off a forum member. The other option would be to get the midrange pascal with the non ddr5x memory just more of it. I still think this gtx 980ti will be close to a midrange pascal card and I would still need a waterblock on it adding £150+ to its price. This ROG gtx980ti also gets a good overclock boost under water and I should also be able to sell my old amd x290 on for around £100 I think for my needs I did ok

Taking a took at the relative performance graphs then yes... the 1070 will be similar performance or just a teeny bit slower than the 980ti in a lot of things.

People wanting to turn single 980ti systems into sli-980ti systems will keep the price a bit higher.

So I would expect the second hand price of 980ti to stay around, if not a little higher than the 1070.
