Just Cause 2

Dark tower - 58.33 avg frames (not bad with it capped at 60) - everything max at 1900*1200.

Enjoying the game, but only played for about 2 hours so far :)

Still deciding whether to go mouse/keyboard or gamepad - using gamepad atm. What are you all using?

Gamepad for me. No need for mouse/KB on this.

Gamepad too there's plenty of auto aim :p

Ok, you guys are helping me to resist the temptation to buy this. The fun for me comes from the degree of difficulty associated with performing those impressive stunts. If anyone can do it relatively easily, it's not very satisfying. And that always leads to buyer's remorse... for full price titles anyway.

I'm still tempted though. There's a very nice Far Cry (1!) vibe about some of the promo vids.

Use mouse and autoaim doesn't seem to kick in as much, you can headshot far easier. I did try it with my 360 controller but found it less responsive and frankly there's more commands available with keyboard/mouse than the controller - check out the list.

Look at this tool in the Steam forums:

I put it on hard mode when I started as usually console ports are too easy with mouse aim.

Come to find out that hard mode is annoyingly hard, as they simply throw endless enemies at you and the game is designed around a ludicrous amount of auto-aim used with the gamepad which is not present with a mouse.

So I'm like "ok, no big, I'll put it on normal." Come to find out... you cannot change the difficulty after starting.

This means I either start over and lose 5 hours of progress or I continue to deal with the annoying difficulty, which is a choice between two devils and it makes me not want to play the game at all.

Thanks Just Cause 2!

I have to admit - I was tempted to go max difficulty, but decided in the end on normal. Glad I made that decision, because I have died a few times and it is VERY frustrating having to go all the way back to the safe house.

5 hours isn't all that much though - and surely he should have worked it out before 5 hours of play!!!

Tried the gamepad, just cant get use to the digital movement of the aiming. To me it feels very restrictive compared to the analogue free flowing of a mouse.

I talked to one of the engine programmers of JC2 here in Sweden and he said that the reason for why people are getting low FPS on NVIDIA graphic cards with all options on MAX is because of the BOKEH filter and GPU water simulation that are NVIDIA specific features and not available on ATI graphics cards.

Turn Bokeh and water GPU off and we can compare the results with ATI

I forgot that nvidia had some extra physx effects >.<

i was noticing frame dips with my e8600 and gtx295 at 1680 - 1050 with 4xaa and all settings at max

i found that i could either run it with no aa or run it at 720p with 4xaa so i picked 720p :)
still looks way better than the console version

Loving this soo far.

FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN

Good to see a sequel deliver and improve on the original game.

Kudos to the developer and also the publisher for having faith in the PC platform and also including Steamworks as Steam Cloud is great.

Best buy of the year for me soo far.

As i played the demo last night the driving and enemy's death animation isnt what i thought, they still bounce back when they die and driving is too sensitive. Also lack of mp as they said they would do in jc2 is a bit of a disappointment.

Absolutely loving it so far! I had already put 30 hours into the demo alone, so knew I wouldn't be let down. Get an average of 40fps with Vsynch off and everything else to max, so very nice!

Only issue I've noticed is that some of the shadows are really grainy at times. I can't tell if this is a design decision or a bug. Anyone else notice this? Running it on a 5770.

That is a matter of opinion.

I for one would rather have a very solid single player which this has turned out to be.

Resources are not unlimited and personally, I prefer them to invest them into the single player experience than splitting them between the two.

Some people find multiplayer just too much sometimes, I for one.

Picked this up this afternoon in town. Will install and give it a blast once I get home from work. Couldn't resist it any longer, hope it is worth it!!.

Anyone running it on a similar spec system to mine?. How's it running?.
