Just cause 3

Got it last night, ran pretty crap for me, looks good, but stutters a lot. 4770K, 16GB, and GTX 780 at 1920x1080, will have to investigate tomorrow night, Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3 have ran pretty decently on it the past few weeks.

A few people have mentioned running Steam in Offline mode before opening the game can help with stuttering. It might also be worth trying the game from an SSD if you've got one with space to see if that makes any difference.

Good luck. :)

Same for me, I stopped playing it a couple of days ago because of how crap it performed.

Tried yesterday since there'd been a small patch but all it did was make the game crash everytime I quit to desktop:p Good work, Avalanche:p The game seems unable to decide whether it wants to run at 50-60fps or at 35-40 with stuttering.

It's completely random. For example, I get 55-60fps and 45-55 during big explosions in particular locations and the very same locations give me 30-35 fps after relaunching the game. Also, I get quite frequent crashes.

When it works, it's pretty fun but I only get about 3 launches in 50 when it runs as intended so...

Since Mad Max was so superbly polished, I excepted the same from this but I was severely wrong. It's completely unplayable, the worst running game I've ever played this year. It even tops Arkham Knight after patching since that at least didn't crash and they managed to improve performance in the end. No other game gave me problems of such calibre.

I'm thinking this may be a big helper - I recently upgraded my brothers pc (i5 2600k, 8GB) to have an AMD R9 380. General framerate in some games is solid (GTA5 is solid unless you turn the texture res too high where it runs out of memory) but Just Cause is utterly unplayable.

The intro footage on the plan runs ok, but soon as it cuts out it grinds to a halt and you just hear his old 200GB mechanical disk dying a painful death! Will be testing it out with a spare SSD and see how it runs at the weekend - will report back!

Finished, Fallout 4 and I wanna pick this up. Seen it for £17 but so close to Xmas sales kicking off I'm hesitant to buy anything. I want, Legacy of The Void too.

I notice people saying having many issues with the patch now too. How can one stop it from installing?

On steam right click the game in your library go on update settings in there there is a drop down that should have never update this game as a option, (recently some games have had this removed due to DRM)

From a quick sampling of my Steam library, including many SP only games, I can't see a single title that has the old "don't keep updated" option!

I know it used to have such an option, as I used it for games like Skyrim where I didn't want a new patch to break the mods I was using!

A backwards step for Steam if they've now removed that option :(

so after initially having a lot of problems running this, and the serious considerations of burning/upgrading my current rig, I had tried running offline, newest beta drivers, everything under the sun... All of it to no avail, constant stuttering, poor fps even with everything off/lowest setting.

Fresh install of windows 10, new SSD, Beta drivers, now running perfect with mostly medium to high settings, no fps drop, sitting around 45-50 (plenty for my aged system) no stuttering, running in online mode.....

Superb

I've recently experienced some crashes also, which is rather annoying.

How much memory does this game need to run with all the settings maxed out?

Dunno but I'm still getting low memory error all the time and I have 16gb of ram. Tried all sorts of combinations to try and fix it but to no avail...crash after crash after crash and everytime I have to reboot my machine.

Hmmm that is weird, I am not getting any low memory errors. I have 16GB installed also and Afterburner is reporting I am only using 4GB of Ram when I play the game.

Settings are at the max according to the Nividia optimisation

Windows 10 :)?? IF so please read the below i had big memory issues with JC3 and helped me out a lot, quoted my posts from some other thread.

:)

Open the run box (Windows key + r) type in services.msc and press ok,

In here on the right side search in the list of items for one called "superfetch" right click it and go onto properties change its startup type to disabled, this currently has a memory leak in W10 and gradually hogs more and more. Turning it off for now should solve this.

:D no problem!!

My ye old lga775 rig benefits the most from it, before turning it off just cause 3 could get its hands on about 800mb ram once it was turned off I could get 3.3gb / my huge 4gb :D!

EDIT : JFYI after these steps you need to restart for it to take affect :) please let me know if it helps you to. Good luck hope it helps you out so you can play again :D
