Just crashed my Celica Gen 7 GT

Unlucky dude. I drive my mum's Celica T-sport and tbh find the brakes appalling. Had them checked out at the Toyota garage but they are all like that apparently!

Did you check the old dude out? I always feel sorry for old people when this happens.

An ambulance came to check him over, as he was EXTREMELY frail. Solaris gave me a call as it happened just round the corner from my house. The old dude must have been in his 80s and was so doddery. He really should not have been driving, he could barely even walk he has so little strength.

Some of the comments are great here, lets see if you will let some 20 year old nerd tell you shouldn't be on the road when you are an OAP.

We all make mistakes.

lol hopes that not aimed at me as am nearly 30 and drive for a living so see it all and clock up 22k per year so thats a lot off seeing it all :D

The dvla make u take eye sight tests when your older and if you fail then you cant drive any more so its not a 20 year old saying it its the govement :D

but i cant rember the age i think its about 80 which lets face it is stuiped and the older you get the slower you get at doing things
which is why ive seen many old people driving there car and not been able to walk
althou good on them for not seating around and watching the world go by

Well by the time we are all 50+ here we will have cyber eyes and chips in our brains so no probs there ¬_¬

To be fair to the others they have summed up the OAP pretty well. He really should not have been driving in my opinion (I'm 34 ;) ). You get some people the same age who still have their wits about them, this guy didn't as clearly demonstrated twice today, both the initial crash and then ramming into a street name sign and a bush. When the Police reversed the Escort out the street sign he had flattened ripped the front bumper off.

i do sympathise with the old bloke but there must be a point where he realises 'hang on, should i really be driving?'. I had an op earlier this year leaving me able to drive but doing so would cause risk to others, so i just got cabs, the bus or whatever means needed to get around.

Shame about your car but it can be repaired, I think we can all agree that re-testing every 10 years is a good idea but after the age of 60 it should be every 5. I remember watching something on the TV a while back about elderly drivers, the one that sticks in my mind was an elderly gent where he blatantly couldn't drive safely any longer and his Doctor had asked the DVLA to revoke his licence, all they did was call him and ask him if he felt able to drive still. Ofcourse he said yes and they did nothing. Last scene showed him trying to reverse out the drive ... and hitting the wall.

I would remove the number from your rear window before the insurance people see it if you don't have track cover, may not be an issue but I would certainly not want anything to get in the way.

Should be an open and shut case amte, you hoping to get it repaired or written off?

Why would his insurance company give a flying one about what he does with his car on private land?

I will wipe it off but you dont need track insurance for santa pod, its at your own risk.

And hoping for a repair, but scared it will never handle the same again...

Oh and this is the car on the strip :D

Unlucky :( I feel sorry for the old guy though, he must have been so confused / shaken etc to put the car there :( I could never lose my temper at anyone like that if I was in the same situation
