Just put my name down for one of these:-

Big thanks to Acidhell2 for posting this info. I shall give Dodge a call Monday to make sure my name is firmly at the top of that list but I may also call Dodge USA and import the car myself, as that way a lot of money to be saved.

sorry Gibbo no other info apart from the pics are rumoured to be around 15days old..

I can't wait for you to get one, it's going to be an immense car, I wouldn't be surprised at those figures, I think they did learn from the new charger.

Just thought I would post something for *** american car haters to look at.

You still getting one of these Gibbo? I thought you were considering the Vette or a porker?

Hi there

I was only toying with the idea of a Porka due to the lack of traction I was having with the Mustang after I added the supercharger, but thats before I educated myself on suspension upgrades. Now with the new suspension setup I can use that power and still get round the corners rather quickly too.

This does not mean to say a Porka is off the cars as they are fantastic all weather cars that are literally point and squirt, but I fear in a Porsche I would end up in jail. My reasoning for this is because in the Porsche its so easy to go quick and its such a capable car. The Mustang is indeed very quick, in fact its quicker than a 996 TT, but in the Mustang I have respect for the car and realise should I mess up then it will probably kill me, wheras in the Porka the 4WD and electronic aids will keep it on the straight and narrow and as such I'd probably drive far faster than I should, not that I don't already, hehe.

The Corvette is very tempting, I like the car all round, its got great handling, good power and a C6 with Z51 package is more or less on par with Z06 handling wise then getting the power similar is very easy, or I could just go for the Z06 instead. Still for me the Mustang has an attraction the Corvette does not and I cannot explain it.

The thing with this new Dodge Challenger is it has the same effect on me as the Mustang does when I look at it. Makes me grin like a child with excitement all over again. :D
So if the Challenger is on par handling wise with the Mustang, some of you may say that won't be hard but thats generally those who have not driven/experienced a modern Mustang, especially a sorted one as the car handles superb and has tonnes of grip so will be interesting to see how the Challenger compares, for those thinking yeah whatever its American and a Mustang cannot handle, well I've driven and owned a few cars now, 3000GT, S2000, M3, M3 EVO, 320i, 525i, Integra DC2 and the Mustang is better than them all, well except for maybe the S2000. Looks wise I preferre the Challenger, I suspect the Challenger will also sound more muscular too and its even more retro and cool.

Cool

It does remind me of the General Lee off Dukes of Hazard, so that makes it retro "cool"

Plus they will be pretty rare and unique in the UK I would have thought

Plus if the suggest price is correct if I import one of these myself including VAT, Duty and shipping it will still cost sub 20k with the current dollar rate. :D ?

:o pehaps I'll be able to afford a 2nd hand one a year or two after sales start.

as far as I know nothing has been confirmed on price, however people in america have started pre -ordering and phoning around and some places are asking for upto $100k as a deposit and others $10k so I assume some dealers must think it'll be a limited run or something.

Hi there

The suspected pricing will be in the lines of $25,000 - $40,000 I believe with it been most likely closer to the $25,000 mark. I don't believe its limited production run but won't be a mainstream vehicle either. The Dodge Viper will still remain their flagship and most expensive vehicle.

Yep, That's what I've heard, but If that's the case I cant see why some american dealers are asking for $100k  maybe they're just trying to cash in, but as I've said others are reporting getting a reserve for only $10k

Lets hop the dollar keeps getting lower until release date.

you really think petrol is going to be cheap in 2 years time

If it isn't, so what? The ever increasing price is why I keep a very fuel efficient car for general 'bumbling around town' driving and save my time in gas guzzlers for the weekends. Even if petrol gets up past £1.50 p/l I can still afford to run my Oldsmobile the way I'm doing right now. And the Challenger, with it's rather more efficient engine, would only cost about the same to keep fuelled.

I don't know the exact details of Gibbo's finances, but I bet he could still afford to drive a Challenger just as much as he does his current 'stang even allowing for a year or so of price hikes on petrol.

Hi there

If petrol prices were to triple and insurance double I'd still drive my Mustang everyday and whatever car that might replace it in the next 1-2 years as well. :)
