Just saw someone jump off the top of a 5 story car park.

Best thing you could have done was walk away, why did you stop, did you think you could save her life by standing and watching.

The police would have thought and looked and her said shes gone, over 50 feet on to concrete and you are died.

Can't believe some people these days. Rather than call 999 they record videos to post on the web/ send to their mates.

Good on you OP for calling.

Not a nice thing to see at all :(

really depends how you land and you still try. You don't stand there and do nothing.

And regardless you always check for a pulse, regardless what you think.

Im guessing they thought she wouldnt have survived and was dead already.

Didnt they even check for a pulse?

Was your mum there btw, if so why didnt she rush over to do cpr and say to the cops it needed to be done and sue me later but im doing it?

About catching, well depends on the time it started and if ppl were there, surely they could have something large like a big coat and some ppl stretched it and tried to catch her that way?

This needs to be done mate, even if you feel it isn't necessary!

I suggest you attempt to see someone about this. There are plenty of options out there.. whether you go through your GP or the Samaritans. They can both reccomend counciling services.

Is that for me? mentally? incase I go crazy?

Don't worry about me, I'm ok. I'm worried about my mum though. She keeps going on about it. "i could have done CPR" etc.. :(

Incorrect on both accounts.

For one, he did exactly the right thing for dialing 999 although I would be interested to hear what they said to you exactly, I ask this because I know exactly what they should have said to you as you were near this person when the fall happened.

Second the Police can't make that descision by simply 'Looking' you'd be surprised the falls you can survive.. if they had checked her ABCs and from that point established that she wasn't breathing, every attempt for CPR should be made untill a medical professional arrives.

Not so much 'Going Mental' but it will help you mate. Been there and done that many times and I was not willing to seek advice etc but pretty soon I had to.

edit, sorry for double post, meant to quote it in the thread above this one :/

Year ago I witnessed a bloke jump to his death from a high rise block of flats in Edinburgh. I was out test driving a mates' car that I was thinking of buying when I pulled over as I though the tyre had went flat. That's when I noticed a small crowd all pointing and looking skyward. He was on the 12th floor and watching him fall and hitting the deck gave me such a sickening feeling in my stomach that I almost passed out. People were all hanging out of their window trying to get a better look and standing around the car park below almost egging him on. The noise that he made as he hit the ground will stay with me forever. The fire service had to be called to hose the car park down afterwards. Those that were shouting at him to jump soon became speechless and I hope that his death still haunts them to this day.
I actually thought I was going to be fine afterwards despite my shock, but that night I burst into tears without realising that I was even going to cry it happened so quick:(

You should have taken a photo of the people recording it and sent it into the local paper. Their faces would be all over the news and they'd probably be ashamed.

CPR is fairly useless, and the success rate of it is minuscule. It's main purpose is to serve as a sign of hope to survivors and witnesses. In the army we were taught not to bother with it in most situations.
