Just seen the SAS?

Surely if it was the SAS they'd have opted for the blacked out 'limo' windows to negate the option of hiding their faces from the public! Probably nothing more exciting than SO19, or some other government based security force, escorting someone/something and needing to get theire damn quick or with the least amount of congestion.

CO19 now ;)

Thats nothing special M8, just an armed escort thats all.

SAS do use normal cars just like the rest of us and try and blend in as a normal citizen.

Thats all for protecting a diplomate and other VIP's.

Regards.

I used to work in Leman St next door to the SO19 base, there were always unmarked cars and vans screeming out all the time with kojak lights on. It was particularly busy when the London bombings happened.

Customs & Excise have offices near Old Street Tube. They have people working in plain clothes on drugs and immigration issues. May have been something to do with them. Just guessing. ;)

I very much doubt they have to wear balaclavas at all times. That would make them totally obvious to everyone.

I think that when they are in transit they have to.. on camp, when they out on the lash or walking down a street i think they dont have to, but when they are working and in transit somewhere they may have to.. I dont know for deffinate..

Don't they just tell people they are in the army if it comes up?
They can just say what the records would say - they're still in whatever unit they were in before. e.g. John Smith was in the Mercian regiment before joining the SAS - the records continue to show him as being in the Mercian regiment.

An easy lie, but I'm sure they'd have others that they could make equally believeable.

No need - wear a boring suit, carry ID showing you as some unimportant official in Revenue and Customs (or whatever it's called) and job done - you can go anywhere you like without being interrupted and people will go out of their way to avoid bothering you. Do it with any degree of skill and no-one will remember anything about you 10 minutes later. Need to get some people and some equipment somewhere? Heating and ventilation company van. Plumbers. Builders. Nice and easy, no fuss.
