It’s like I watched a completely different film.

Absolutely sensational.

No issues with 4:3-in fact it made a refreshing change.

It probably could be trimmed down a bit but at this point what difference would it make. This is a far superior film in every way and I’m glad that Snyders vision is now here to be seen.

I’m even more annoyed that WB released what they did after watching this last night.

The 4K disc should be amazing when it comes out.

Loved it, a really great experience that didn't feel like four hours. So much more gritty, and much better character development all around.

Fair enough I'll admit it's not really the wasted space, it's more the fact it makes the pic seem so small. I'd prefer a 16x9 crop.

They will be simultaneously framing for 4x3 and 16x9 (or something similar), I guarantee it. They'll do a pan and scan for dvd or something. And how do you think it was going to play in regular theatres?

It depends how you want to look at it. I would say my TV has XX amount of real estate and they're not using half of it. Considering this is a home release they should be bearing this in mind.

I also hate IMAX so my perspective is somewhat skewed...

just move nearer to the TV. :)

Loved this also.

I was halfway through, enjoying the characters and their relationships, completely forgetting that they still had his royal highness to resurrect (it was Flash's comment just before the Steppenwolf fight that reminded me). Complete polar opposite to the 2017 release where I was bored of the whole film just waiting for him to return.

Not sure about the final apocalyptic scene or why he felt the need to wrap up around that. If there's a follow-up, great, otherwise it was a bit frivolous... maybe just to give leto his screentime?

I think its because this film ends in a dead end and thats due to WB.

WB have took the DC Universe a different route so would be hard to continue this film I think he said it would basically be like two different timelines/universes.

Although thats nothing new to DC and the TV series handle it.

Once Superman is back, the rest of the gang feel pretty redundant tbh. The only one that seems to have unique skills is Victor with his IT skills.

Also, is the Flash faster than Superman or does Supes win that one too?

In the comics, The Flash is vastly faster than Superman when he wants to be.

I also thought the scene when Superman returns in his suit was very well done. With the voices of Jor-El and Jonathan, it felt like proper superman. In the original JL, the whole return was just a bit soulless to me. Nothing that gives you the tingles like a proper superman moment does.

Isnt that the entire point of the film? Superman's death is the only reason they come back to earth and the soundwave of his death activate the mother boxes.

And there for Supes is really the only one that can beat the baddies with a little help from his friends.

I'm about 40 minutes in and it's OK so far but tbh it says a lot that I haven't paused it to post this.

I'm reminded of a Garth Marenghi quote-

"we tried to keep the slow motion away from the dialogue as much as possible, but anything without dialogue was considered for slow motion"

It's very much a typical Zack Snyder style of film, even down to minutiae like the specific colour palettes he uses in most of his films, never mind the abundance of slooooooo-moooooooo he's famous for. Just like Michael "Bayhem" is famous for his, well Bayhem style, you know exactly what you're getting with a Snyder film.

That pretty much the exact dynamic for any team up movie or comic.
At least this end scene had them all doing kinda unique stuff.
Batman keeping parademons busy for Flash to to his thing.
WW and Aqua beating up Wolf as Cyborg was working the Motherboxes, Supes beating the hell out of him, but having his back turned to help Cyborg.

I thought this film was awful, at times the cgi is very poor, the music choices were strange to me and does anyone else see this as an avengers rip off, mother boxes instead of infinity stones?

The client was probably done the best they could considering they didn't have a gauge budget to finish the movie and also it was mostly done at home during lockdown. You have to look past the court. Some of it does look really good though.

The mother boxes have been a thing in the comics for a long time.
