Kerbal Space Program

So what are the 'Must Have' add-ons, those who have been playing for a while would suggest?

I would suggest not going with MechJeb unless you really really can't figure out how to get into orbit etc. You will lose some of the game if you do. But then I'm a purist and I rarely install anything (generally use stock parts).

MechJeb can be really useful for things other than getting it to take off for you and transfer to planets, etc.

I mainly use it for the information you can get from it and for executing nodes that I've made since it can getting it pretty much perfect where as I'm usually a few m/s off.

The mods that I'm currently running are :
Lazor Docking Camera - Adds a camera on docking ports which helps with docking.
Kethane - Adds a natural resource that can be mined and converted into fuel.
Mission Controller - Adds a career style aspect to the game, you get a budget and have to stick to it. You complete objectives to make money.
MechJeb2

Agreed. I would definitely get mechjeb but just not use some of its advanced features. All I use it for is to get info about my craft like the weight and the delta-v. The only mods i have so far are mechjeb and crew manifest but i plan to get the mapsat, kethane, GNSS and the one that means you need satellites for communication

Think I'm getting the gist of it now. I've killed Kerbals on the launch pad, during accent and almost in orbit. Killing Kerbals is the aim of the game isn't it??;):)

It is so addictive, still struggling getting a nice orbit and keeping everything under control, but best few quid I've spent in years.

its a game that you can do ANYTHING in. its only limited in your imagination. So much hours of fun to be had. To say im addicted would be an understatement.

The new ASAS in 0.21 looks amazing. I didnt think one part would make me so excited for 0.21, but it has:

If you're having difficulty getting to orbit then I would suggest you take a look at the basic maneuvers page on the KSP wiki. It helped me enormously with the takeoff and landing: http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Basic_Maneuvers

Also, try installing mechjeb: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com...atid-Robotics-MuMech-MechJeb-Autopilot-v2-0-8
While it can do millions of things that kinda take the fun out of the game it has one very useful feature which is to tell you the delta v of your rocket (the potential speed change). I think it says that you will want a total delta v of at least 4500m/s to get into orbit, probably more since you said you were having difficulties. The delta-v information is all use mechjeb for and its still well worth the install

Yep, the asas is a big game changer.

Once you can do things by hand. Mechjeb, allows you to take the tediuse out of the game, and let you do bigger missions, without taking 6years.

Even very early nasa was all ground control.

SAS testing - not got sound here at work and not watched the whole vid - but I'm guessing a summary is that they've stopped the wobbling/flapping/overcorrecting that ASAS used to do all the time?
If so.... Awesome! :D

Rocket fuel? :s or fuel as in electrical charge? The latter would atleast make sense!

Either way - sounds good! Only really need it on takeoff or maybe docking if you have got a really difficult to manoeuvre vessel!

it also lets you override its control so it is possible to change the orientation of your machine while leaving the ASAS on and once you stop the movement it will try to hold the new position, which will be fantastic for flying super nimble planes
