Kerbal Space Program

I was hoping I could just wing it like with the Mun and Minimus :o :p

You can, but it's less efficient. Do a burn to the orbit of your target planet. Once your trajectory touches the orbit of your target planet, time accelerate to that point. Then set up a manoeuvre node to burn prograde or retrograde until you get an encounter. Usually, you won't need very much to get that encounter - you don't have to completely circularise your orbit.

Does anyone know how to stop structural failure during decoupler to rocket engine seperation?

I have a 2 stage rocket after the first stage rocket runs out of fuel the decoupler seperates the empty rocket beneath it and exposes the next rocket but what happens is the decoupler breaks the second engine causing it to fail and fall off from the rocket so im left with no engine to power the next stage!

Awesome, cheers :)

I use hard points and struts to strengthen joints

This was an unexpectedly amusing game.:D

One of us streamed it whilst everyone else watched and made 'helpful' remarks about the construction. In revenge three Kerbals were named after clan members and we watched as one plunged into the sea whilst another burnt up in the atmosphere.

Good times.

Good game.

Ahh I knew there would be a thread here, i've been playing this the last few days. I started off building rockets then when I worked out how to get an orbit going I penned myself a little mission.

The mission was to launch two rockets, the first rocket would be a manned mission with two kerbals, the rocket would also carry the first part of my space station. The second rocket would be an unmanned mission carrying the second part of the station and an escape capsule for my stranded Kerbals.

I must have tried 20 times before I finally docked with my stranded kerbals in the first section of the space station. Second rocket is an unmaned rescue mission to bring my kerbals home.

Pre Docking:

Docked :)

My first Kerbal space walk:

Tomorrow is the mission back home. I must say there is something massively satisfying about this game.

I haven't played this for aaaaages!! I've landed on the Mun before and managed to return safely, figured I'd pick up where I left off.....

Can I do it? Can I bugger!! :(

Best get my learning hat on!

Kerbal, is now on a Steam sale £12.05... Bargain:)

Just noticed that myself. :D
Great times for any one considering buying it; Thats roughly 4 Pints of beer money going to a great Indie Developer, an months of open ended Sand Box gaming for players, with lots of explosions + space...

Please check it out at http://store.steampowered.com/app/220200/
An say Hi here, if your interested.

Just had an hour playing about with it. It's very addictive, I can understand why it's gaining followers. Can't go wrong at that price.

Well what a cracking little game/simulation whatever you want to call it. I can foresee this occupying the winter nights no problem.

So what are the 'Must Have' add-ons, those who have been playing for a while would suggest?

MechJeb, is pretty important but it can take away from the game. With version 2 you can basically get it to do everything for you. I generally just use Smart SAS, surface/orbital information and phase angles. It also tells you part counts and how much power and delta-V you have in the building phase, which is very important when making sure you are going to get into space.

ISAmapsat, maps the planets for you, which gives you a great reason to send probes to every planet/moon out there. It shows topography as well as anomaly's so you can find all the Easter eggs in the game.

Quantum struts, are a must if you want to build big space stations as they increase strength of joints etc.

Kethane pack is pretty good too, first you said probes to search for the deposits then you can mine and convert it to fuel.

Just got my Steam key for this, having bought the absolutely ages ago. Top notch work to the devs for doing this!

I'm going to get hold of some of the suggested plugins, I never used MechJeb before as I thought it'd ruin the game, but after so much messing around, I can see it being useful in reducing some monotony of common tasks. :)
