Kerbal Space Program

Thought I would have a mess about, on a sun escape trajectory and still have 11k delta v left.

The demo is very similar, but missing loads of stuff.

Vid of some stuff in the next update

Edit- that's it, out of delta V zipping along at 32,766MPH actually taht was in kerbin Stephen of influence, now doing 45,400MPH

Think I need to get an ion engine mod. And try this again. Passed the mun in under 35mins game time,

Can anyone tell me how similar the Steam demo is to the current game?

(I believe the Steam demo is based on older version of the build)

The Demo has its perks, as well as its draw backs.

Demo:
Build 0.19 (I think)
3 Celestial bodies (Sun, Kerbin, Mun)
3 Flight Limit
Basic (MK1) Rocket Parts only

Paid Game:
Build 0.20 (0.21 Soon)
All updates Free, including Release Game.
20+ Celestial bodies (More Solar Systems, added at some point :p )
Unlimited Flights.
200-300 Parts; More usually added every build.
Docking, Re-Entry affects, Planes, Probes, Rovers, better NAV system.
Modding Support.

Just watch some of Scott Manley's YouTube video's. Will give you an idea for whats it all about...

Are there systems in place to keep satellites facing the ground and geostationary now? I gave up last time...

Geo stationary orbit is like 2867k above the planet. Mech Jen could keep them pointed down but as soon as you leave them they will rotate

A word of warning guys: always put your parachutes above the centre of gravity. I thought the big fuel tanks at the bottom of my lander would want some parachute support on the way down to eve, but every time I tried using them the craft just flipped over. i did have a bunch above the rocket too, but they weren't enough on their own to slow the rocket down and i didnt have the fuel to spare to slow down for a surface landing

Was messing around last night trying to get to Eve with a ship I put together in about 10 minutes. Basically just to see what can be achieved by using less parts and thinking about things more.

About an hour or so in realising Eve wasn't going to happen...

Fairly chuffed with myself as I always wanted to get to Duna :D Pretty certain this is a 1 way trip with the amount of fuel I have left though!

With a fair bit of practice i managed a Mun landing. :)

Unfortunately i didn't make it back so not amazingly succesful, will give it another go soon. :)

So a slight update, having made it to Duna with little fuel remaining, I decided to try and get home.

AND IT WORKED! - Very VERY little fuel remaining though, now to change the design and get a landing vehicle there + capable of returning :D

Anyone have a reliable lifter design? I've increased my payload to a CM and Lander but having issues launching it into orbit. Just adding more rockets is making it uncontrollable :(

Post up pictures, so we can see what your design look like.
So we can suggest improvements, or better yet. post it on Dropbox or PasteBin, so we can download the craft.

Pictures of the craft flying, an the stages dropping away, also speak a thousand words.

Consider recreating the Delta 4 Heavy Rocket.

I feel like I can build something good enough to get me into space but once I've got into an decent enough orbit I've used up so much fuel which doesn't leave me enough for the interstage between Kerbin and Mun and then making a close enough orbit to detach the lander module.

I tried to show my mate who has six kerbals stuck on duna how to fly to duna ... I kinda messed up:

By the way, I had no idea that you could repack your chutes once you had landed by going EVA, Thats why there are some unused chutes there

Haha love it. I need to head to Duna myself, got a ship that I think can make it, but need to work out how to do the transfer properly!

Congrats, you done well;
Or your just pure evil stranding so many helpless Kerbals on Duna.
I counted 36 in total. :D

My biggest lander only manages 23 Kerbals in one lift.

PS: If any one is still interested, Steam has KSP for the next 21+ Hours for £10.79. :) http://store.steampowered.com/app/220200/

I do centre of 4 big tanks, with rockermax, then 3x lots of 4 large tanks each with rockermax feeding into centre column, then three x4 large tanks (no rocket) feeding into the three with rockets.

More boosters.

More seriously, look up "asparagus staging" on google. It feels like cheating. :p
