Kerbal Space Program

getting to orbit is easy.

Go straight up till about 15000ft, then start tilting over (i go for a heading of 90). Loads of youtube videos to help.

Im finding the game a little "boring" now because its so easy. Ive been building bigger and bigger rockets to lift heavy custom parts. Landing on the moon for instance is very hard, but once you've done it, there's nothing to do lol.

Something must be up with their server, I can't get above 20kbps and it's already failed 4 times.

As i said before, if you're having trouble then just look for the thread on their forums, somebody put a mirror up that works fine. I don't want to link it else that gets hammered too.

Just made my first attempt for the mun... and learnt that i have a lot more to learn about orbital mechanics. Complete opposite to what i thought would happen happened :D

getting hammered at the moment, i couldnt download last night, kept finishing half way through and terrible speeds, downloaded it perfectly this morning at 1.8mb/s.
the only mirror i could find on the forum was to version 0.13.0

thanks

There speed updates sure did work, it all loads so quickly now.

first rocket, just missed the moon, but if im lucky i think i might hit eart. however I ahve no rockets. so we shall see/

40 days still over 40million m altitude.

nope im in a stable orbit.

haha bill and bob just realised they aint going home.

Played this early on and had a great time, just downloading the latest version, looks even better now, watch out moon here i come:D

also just payed my $7:cool:

Edit*
the server must be getting hammered??? getting ridiculous download speeds and i have had a couple of failed downloads so far, gonna try again later:(

Same. Getting around 50kB/sec and had a few failed downloads. I blame Sips!

That would be great. Want more features first. Some sort of computer controll flight, becuase I can't flips with a keyboard. Or have any idea how to get to moon. Can often get out there distance wise, just no where near it.

I get that quite a lot as well, haven't bothered to sit down and figure out the best way to do it. If you're at least in some sort of highly elliptical orbit of Kerbal where you go out to the Mun's orbit and back it's really just a matter of cranking up the time compression and waiting though.

steps to get to the moon.
1: get a stable orbit of around 90'000-100'000meters, with a heading of 90degrees
2: Orbit the planet, and wait for the moon to just start rising. Fire your rocket up along your orbital path.
3: Wait till your apogee is around 11'500'000meters (just beyond the moon) then cut the engines.
4: If like me you've timed it too well, you will in fact hit the moon rather than just get captured by it :(
5: When you do get captured by it, you need to retro burn at the perigee, to get captured into a orbit around the moon, other wise you will shoot off into space/back to Kerbal.

i tell you what, its no easy feat to get to the mun, i've skimmed passed by a knats baw hair about 3 times now, but in the process of that i've already expended all my fuel bar some RCS, very frustrating, getting into orbit is a piece of cake now.

i made the mistake of downloading loads of addon parts, more than half of them are useless though, they just dont have any structural integrity, i end up with a long thin rod of fast moving jelly that has a mind of it own and completely uncontrolable.
bar a few little useful bits its best just to stick to the standard parts.

getting closer to the moon.

fly straight up untill AP in the Map view reaches 70,000m, then tilt it all the way over so your touching the iorange/blue divide and heading in either 270degrees or 90degrees. that puts you on the same plane. once you get an orbit cut rockets. then its just a matter of firing again when the times right to coincide with where the moon will be.
