Kerbal Space Program

Being a relative noob, I was really struggling with science grinding until this afternoon. But then, in the space of an hour I quickly pulled of my first Munar flyby, sample and return mission, then did the same at Minmus. Hardly used any fuel and was twiddling nodes like some sort of errr... clever person. This is from someone who until recently could barely get in to orbit unless he had a rocket that made the Saturn V look like a booster.

Scott Manley's a ******* amateur compared to me. :D

Haha! Ive just been playing the sandbox game, but think i need to start the career mode! I too started off pants but after 2 days i can manage to get into an orbit around the mun and minimus and get back to kerbin! This is really addictive.

Made a vid of me tooling around in my newest Jet.
SSTO Plane with Kethane, it has the ability to land and refuel on spots with deposits. On low fuel (ie straight from the ship hanger) it's insanely twitchy and likes flying backwards, sideways and any direction that isn't forwards :)

Annoying that recording in 1920x1200 means borders on the sides when converted to 720p or 1080p :/ Need to do some digging around for other video editing software. Windows Movie Maker just didn't seem to have any useful options, this video was with Lightworks that seems to be horrifically unintuitive, back at uni I used to use Sony Vegas - might have to give that a shot again.

Tried the demo earlier, no idea what a lot of attachements do, and I was cartwheeling most of the time. It's quite fun though. I think the issue is I used too many boosters to one-sided.

Still can't dock :(

Built 2 little ships, got them both in a near perfectly circular orbit, closed in on target and it all went pear shaped within 1000m, as usual.

Rant over :(

Yeh it'll go out of balance as you fly it, but you can adjust the power between engines as you do it. There is absolutely no reason to not build symmetrical unless you are setting yourself a challenge though!

Made a new video of me flying my Kethane SSTO. Now with added VTOL :D

The VTOL works so much better than I was expecting. Really easy to control and with the torque offered by the SAS module and the pod it can cope with quite varied fuel loads.
It needs to use rocket mode to lift off unless it is just about empty on fuel, but with jet mode it works great for just doing slow passes and finding a landing spot :)

Not sure what I'm going to do next with Kerbal. A VTOL is something I've been trying to do for ages, and here I've nailed it with the ability to get into orbit, fly nicely as a plane AND refuel when on the ground! :D

Docking is my next challenge.

I waited until Career mode had been developed before really devoting time to KSP. Sandbox just seemed too unstructured.

I'm making it unnecessarily difficult by using the KW rocketry mod. Now my rockets normally only go up with bulbous fairings. Restrictive, but they look the part. Normally.... :D

Guess what just landed on my doorstep.

oooooh youuuuu!!!!! I am so tempted with one of these after watching Scott's video of his one last week. I think it would look great on the office desk at work :D

Mine would be nicked within 15 minutes, at my work.
But they do look good. I though Squad done well, by merchandising the rights to other companies for production (Leaves them with more development time on there hands.) :)
But I look forward to the day, they release plus-shies or teddies of Kerbals (Jebediah preferably.) As I'd buy them within minutes of release.
I think one would look epic, on the dash of my four wheeled rocket/car.

So in my absence, the past few weeks, I have still been blowing up lots of Kerbals. :D

Today, I spent part of the day, chasing after a 500+ part replica, Boeing 747.

Made by this wonderful KSP Fan @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xt6Z1kSS14

Also one of my favorite projects, an most proudest, was creating an landing the Curiosity Rover (Obvious name rip-off, of Martian rover.) too the Mun + Minimus (Two different missions).

But since imgur is much easier to work with that Imageshack. I may post more often. :)

made a single stage to orbit rocket with rapiers.

then I tried to make it bigger to carry a probe.

cargo bays open

oh we have a problem, the rcs and solar panels, means it cant get out very easily, why did k9 aerospace make the cargo bay that size, needs to be a little bigger.

finally out but broke, look at those poor solar panels floating through space.

then the parachutes ripped the ship apart on rentery, so needs some more work. But at least it has enough delta V, just need to play around with parachute deployment heights. and somehow get the probe out the cargo bay.

can someone suggest a mod like B9 Aerospace Pack but without a million items. I want extra parts but not that many!

Tried the Component Space Shuttle yesterday, awesome mod, just shame it doesnt work 100% with current KSP version.

Good god I hate landing planes on Duna, why do I never put a parachute on, slowing it down from orbit is almost impossible with the thin atmosphere. Must be on attempt 7 by now.
