Kerbal Space Program

Looks like you've got a tonne of fuel with that too - should keep a single engined light jet in the air for ages :)

My newest creation:
It's big, requires atleast the whole runway to take off (it pulls up as it goes off the ledge) but can then happily burn all the way into with it's attached fuel tanks. Around 8 tonne of fuel means it's effortless to fly for longer than I would ever want to on jet fuel alone or get into an orbit with no difficulty whatsoever. Tomorrow I might try and get to the moon and back with just the standard tanks it has on it. Think that might require some keen judgement.
It's even quite easy to land, providing you don't have too much rocket fuel - then it gets tricky with the weight. With full tanks you need to be doing 150m/s to get enough lift to land smoothly, but margin for error is high. Definitely recommended to burn a lot of fuel off before a landing. Luckily it turns out that burning into the atmosphere at 4km/s is good fun :D

Only notable mod I'm using is Kosmos Angara for the improved rockets and fuel tanks. Bigger and better without being imbalanced. Plus importantly they look good!

Glaucus - sounds like you've still not quite found the trick to making jets. Care to post up any of your designs? I'll try and give you some direction on where you might be going wrong. I've managed to make smaller jets that I can chuck around like a raving lunatic, 7g banked turn 20m above the ground between the SPH ad VAB :D

Oh I can make jets, just not huge ones, well that's a lie, have made several huge ones which work, but grind computer to abuout 0.3fps which makes flying hard, yet almost identical design on the launch pad, is fine.
Not really interested in small nano able ones. Just heavy lifters. Just need something implemented to make use of them, like docking. So can make big space station in as few trips as possible.

9 scram jets and central rocket with 12rocket fuel tanks. :0 just a shame there's nothing really far out to aim for.

That's odd that it seems to hit you with framerate. Whilst I've had framerate drop when initially loading the runway it's made no difference once I've started moving.
With heavy load you are probably better off with taking off vertically anyway, with horizontal takeoff you need even lift accross the plane to get off the runway which can mean it is difficult to then have enough fuel and thrust to get into orbit, if you want cargo too then it'll be hard.

I'll install a space station pack tonight and get it up into space, but I expect that I'll launch it vertically unless it's a lot lighter than I thought, every time I've tried putting extra weight on a jet for takeoff it's just made it difficult to fly...

It's possible, they just don't have good handling. Get off runway, point nose at climb rate you want and hit T.

A couple of solid boosters can help a lot, just to pick up instant speed for takeoff.

I have 2 solid boosters on the wings of my ship to get them up to about 100m/s. then i turn on the jet engines and turn off SAS around 140m/s then lift off. If i turn off sas sooner i just turn left and go out of control. Why is that ? :(

Something not completely identical / symmetrical?

I can only assume this, an error in symmetrical building thing. Some models are fine others veer off. So can only assume that when you select the symmetrical add on, that something has small errors in it.

Getting bored now, need more features.

I know what you mean, I've only been playing it a few days but I can see why people would get bored. I haven't tried out any mods yet though!

Multiplayer on this could be awesome if it was implemented well!

download some heavy satellite and try lifting them to the moons etc? I may even try to put some in orbit closer to the sun, then try getting back to Kerth etc. Mini challenges are good.

Got two satellites up now.
don't quite understand the packs.

Like what do z02 tanks do?

Dynasat and ZOxygene mods

I have run into a problem
http://snpr.cm/cWRqcC.jpg
It seems, my 2 side engines where running from the middle fuel tanks after the first 3 where depleted :\ Now i have no middle engine and my speed and altitude is dropping significantly.

How will i be able to fix this? lots of fuel pipes?

Fixed, was order of fuel tanks.

Any suggested packs/links.

Damned Aerospace (helicopters etc, goes nicely with the above for VTOLs)

I've glanced at the Energy packs with the z02 and such. Sounds quite interesting but not got around to working out how they work yet. Would be nice for some more interesting craft :)

Think thats just like an oxygen mod, makes it harder to survive on long trips etc

Yes yes it is, along with batteries. I think this afternoons and probably tomorrows mission.
Is to use oxygen bat mod to make it harder and then in one flight.

Put satellite in kerbin orbit, then satellite in muns orbit it, satelite in minimus orbit, land on minimus and detach something, empty fuel tanks with legs or something. Then get back home and survive.

That should be very challenging.

Think one of my plans for tonight, or at some point of the weekend is to fly my Reusable rocket plane to both moons and get into stable orbits, before heading back to Earth, going to take some real work. Think I'll possibly find fuel a bit tight. Will be a test of my piloting currently, always found getting near the moon a bit hit and miss.
