Kerbal Space Program

I've just downloaded 0.19.1, and for some reason it just won't let me attach fuel tanks to decouplers. Have they changed something about the assembly behaviour?

I'm finding building a ship really annoying when I want to detach a part in the middle from it. It always selects the whole ship, is there a hotkey for selecting an individual part?

Got it working on a cheap Alienware laptop, which means I'll be playing this far more.
I've even disabled the discrete gfx card and its working great at native res on a hd3000, the physics must be cpu and other than that its not the prettiest game.
totally vanilla, trying to do the mars one mission but on the moon. got two dragon capsules down so far.
need to install winch mod and send a giant rover to move them about, I've got docking ports on top. Plan is to send a beam and join three capsules together.

I have been having that problem, it usually works if you either

1, Try to attach it to another decoupler in the array you are making or
2, drop the tank in the VAB and pick it back up again

I usually have to the above about 5 or 6 times to get it to work, it is very frustrating.

Sadly there is several glaring bugs with the VAB/SPH attachment system.
An due too that area of the game not been under development for 4-6 months (VAB/SPH) The Dev's haven't invested any time, resolving them.
Truthfully I can't imagine they will be priority until the Game goes into Beta Stage, Presently Alpha. :(

Viable work a rounds:
1. Press Save, an reload the craft, then try to place parts again.
(Works very well when attempting placement of Multiple Symmetrically placed Parts.)

2. Move the offending Part, up the craft tree.
(ie, try placing it on wings or command pods, then removing that specific part, an re-attaching it too the intended place.)

3. Bring up the Debug Menu (ALT + F12) An select No Part Clipping Function.
(Makes craft creation much easier.) :D

Third capsule landed, I think I've got some great grouping, for just a touch down and not some insane hover movements.

time to install the winch mod and build a rover.

cant say I've had much issue with the vab, however joints between fuel tanks, seem quite week in the latest build.

I have had to ban myself from playing this in order to make sure normal life carrys on!, spend best part of two days making a flying boat, was quite a challenge making one that wouldnt simply disintegrate on impact with the water, and also getting back into the air was quite tricky. Now i just need some way of cleaning up all the debri in the water at the end of hte runway lol.

I've never done it like that. I tend to get into a circular 90 degrees orbit, then swap the map view and plan it from there. Just create a maneuver node and stretch it out until you are as far out as the moon is. Then just grab the centre circle of the gizmo and drag it around your orbit until it has a moon intercept :)

That's how I usually do it, the fail-proof way :D

Might try quickshot's method though sounds interesting!

Ah, you young whippersnappers. Back in my day we would wait until we saw the Mun rise over the horizon to begin our burn.

I still use that method for the Kerbin system (Mun + Minimus) Transfer burns.
But the maneuver node allows for much more efficient burns, to your destinations.

As for beep space missions, that rely on Solar Orbit, an then transferring to a orbit round other bodies (Murs + Jool + Eve) I have to use maneuver node's.

Pictures of my latest Mun landing attempts. :)

I remember the way I used to do it. Burn straight up until I had 0 velocity sat in the orbit path of the Mun, and wait for it to catch me in its sphere of influence, before burning like hell to stop me crashing into it :D
