Kevin Space Invader

If there are any celebrities out there that feel the urge to grab someone's privates, I'm happy to oblige for the measly sum of £20K with no comebacks. :D

Technically, yes. Anything that isn't the most common thing is a deviance. Which, of course, means that we're all deviants.
In scientific / natural world terms I would guess having sex for any other reason than procreation is deviant.

The question for sociality is what sorts of deviancy is OK and acceptable and what isn't. :)

This has changed dramatically over time and will probably continue to do so.

Reagan, the guy who was telling the public that AIDS could be spread by casual contact, resulting in kids being shunned in schools yeah great guy.
Fair comment. I assume you must have been perfect throughout your whole life then? Not one mistake? Not one comment you regret? Not one view that you later realise is wrong?

People in power are just regular people. Often no more intelligent than you or I. Unfortunately their views are amplified because of their position.

Which president do you think was the greatest? Pretty much any of them you could pick would have some views that people find objectionable. It's easy to criticise.

Deviance - "the fact or state of diverging from usual or accepted standards, especially in social or sexual behaviour".
Being gay is pretty accepted nowadays, as well as common enough to be quite usual.... Probably not a deviance.

would not go that far lol

Just listened to a 2-year old episode of the 'Guys We xxxx-ed' podcast (I'm working through the back-catalogue). In it, Spacey was alluded to, not by name, in having a liking for tying up young men. The guest on the pod knew one such young man who reckoned that Spacey was genuinely quite scary during the act - whispering quite unsettling stuff.

Not particularly newsworthy, we all have our kinks, but interesting to hear it just after this stuff has come out.

They also talked a bit about Louis CK being a bit weird, about a year ago.

(Great podcast btw)

There's enough gay people out there that it is totally usual. I've met enough gay people that I wouldn't be at all surprised to meet a few more. It's not exactly a novelty.
nope i agree not a novelty, but usual is a bit of a stretch ime..

The weirdest example of that for me is the mythical HIGNFY Jimmy Saville transcript from years ago.

The weird thing about that is it’s fake apparently. But I distinctly remember seeing the episode and Ian giving Saville absolute dogs abuse.

Memories are weird, I found out recently that several people saw me spew in the middle of a packed pub on a works Xmas night out last year.

The thing is, I wasn’t even there.

He was on once, but that's not the same mythical episode about his child abuse. The transcript that floats about is years old and predates any of the investigations into him. I read it ages ago.

Anything that isn't the most common thing is a deviation. I think you're stretching words a bit to use deviance in that stead.

Which is why I wrote "Technically, yes." rather than just "Yes." The word covers the meaning, but isn't the best word for that meaning. There isn't necessarily any difference in meaning between 'deviation' and 'deviance', but there are usually different additional meanings implied.
