So is this McCloskey any good then? Living in the USA, i can't say I know much about him. Not seen ANY of his fights. Does he stand a chance against the likes of Khan? All I know is HBO is televising the fight this Saturday, and advertising it too. They seem to like Khan over here, probably because he's in with Roach and Golden Boy.

That last Maidana fight was one of the most exciting I've seen in a long time.. Shouldn't really get my hopes up though, should I.

It's next weekend and I'm looking forward to Tyson vs Rahman more tbh.

What that ***** Tyson Fury? I saw him once on TV. He looked like he was made up of spare parts. A bit of a 7ft freak, with wobbly parts all over.

Not actually a bad fighter though, given his gross size. But he was unable to put down a club fighter in the 8 rounds so i was left a little unimpressed. Only impressed that such a big thing could put a quick succession of punches together.

Yeah, he's fighting on the Khan undercard. Can't say I've watched much of him either but Steward's been training him and rates him very highly, thinks he could be the next great heavyweight. Don't get much bigger endorsements than that in boxing and it's enough to intrigue me.

I've never known what it is, but I have never like Khans style. Im lucky to have a friend who trains at the Wildcard gym so I have been down a couple of times (spectator only) and saw Khan and Freddie train once or twice, and even in training, there is something about him I cant quite put my finger on. I think, it just appears that he is never quite giving 100%, but yet...seems to want to convince everyone else he is. In all honesty, Khan has a lot more to lose in this fight, so I imagine McCloskey will be going in a lot harder. Whether this will work for or against him im not sure. I hope it works for him, and he manages to edge the fight and put Khan in his place once and for all, but we shall see.

I too am looking forward to the Fury fight. Been following his progress for a couple of years, and the thing that stands out most, is just how clumsy he has been in the last couple of fights, due to his size he seems to think he can bring his guard down lower, and he leaves himself open a lot. Im hoping this is something he has worked on. So Im looking forward to seeing if he can better himself, as now is the time he needs to start proving himself. Although I think I remember he constantly seems to have back issues, which im sure will plague him again soon!

I wouldn't put much stock in Steward saying that Fury could be the next great heavyweight. No man who has to go through the trenches to beat McDermott will ever hold that title. Manny's getting paid by Fury, so let's take his endorsements with a grain of salt. Rahman is well past his best at this point in his career, so I'm not sure if I'll even watch this bout.

As for Khan, he doesn't seem to get much love on these shores, but I'm glad he's doing well in America. I guess after selling us a bunch of terrible match ups as PPVs, and then getting spectacularly KTFOd, that the british public have given up on him entirely. A year ago I would have agreed with the majority but I think he has now earned a second chance. Not only did he beat some good boxers in Malignaggi and Kotelnik, but also took on Maidana, who I see as a better stronger smarter version of prescott. On the cards also is a unification with Bradley, which would be an excellent fight for top dog in the division - bearing in mind that it's probably the 3rd or 4th best division in boxing at the moment - and one I can see Khan dominating. The fight with McCloskey though is clearly a filler for Khan after a tough test last time in the ring.

In short, NO McCloskey only has maybe a 5% chance of winning this one IMO
It's a keep busy fight and they got one of the cheapest opponents they could find before they go after Bradley in the summer/autumn.

Well it looks like Fury Rahman is off, and that Khan McCloskey will be free.

Yes it sounds like Khan's pay day has gone from 1.25GBP mil to only 250,000GBP.

I bet he's over the moon.

***** Fury is still set to fight though, but once again it'll only be a club fighter of some sort, pulled from god knows where in the ranks.

All that fuss as well over these days with Haye and Klitchsco. Wasn't the Khan fight one of the reasons Sky said no to Haye, because they didn't want two PPV's being too close to each other.

Why did the fight purse drop so much?

Cos most his payday would have come from the PPV's. Since it's now free, he won't be getting as much.

He just needs patience. He's making it big in America, and I wouldn't be suprised if the Bradley Vs Khan doesn't make PPV here in the States. That'll be a mega fight and he'll earn millions from that.

As I said earlier, he's getting quite popular in the USA after the Maidana fight. His glass jaw is actually working in his favor !! It makes for an exciting fight. He just needs to concentrate on making the fight fun to watch for the American audience and he'll be all set !

McCloskey can punch and is a southpaw. Could pose a few questions for Khan, he wont be used to the angles and that glass jaw is still suspect. Its interesting because Khan sacked his conditioner Ariza who you have to say did a fantastic job for the Maidana fight.

He should win but if Khan has got his eye on the Bradley fight, then we could have an upset. One thing for sure despite been at the MEN its not goin be a hone crowd :)

As for Fury, still laugh everytime I think about THAT punch he inflicted on HIMSELF.

Anyone watching the morales fight? He still has it and giving maidana a run for him money

I didn't stay up for it, but recorded it and watched it this morning. Morales showing he is in a different league to Maidana when it comes to boxing skills, he fought most the fight with one eye shut, and he's yearsss past his peak. It was a good fight and he was unlucky not to get a draw at least.
