King Charles III / Royal Family

A close friend of the family got Cancer during Covid and he spent more time being thrown out of Hospital to die at home than actually being treated. ( He passed away )

King = instant treatment
Civilian = Good luck!

Correction
King = instant treatment
Peasants = Join the queue!

Why would he do that, wasn't he supposed to be an intelligent guy?

Being intelligent doesn't mean you are not ignorant. Going through all those crazy diets didn't help him either. Only till his final days he decided to take treatment, of course he was on deaths door by then.

Civilians Peasants ? Proles - get with the program
shapps and streeting apparently both felt obliged to comment, no decorum

Well he will certainly have the best care, he probably started treatment almost immediately and top Dr`s will be on the case from the get go.

Had my gallbladder removed at a private hospital - NHS paid for.

If you ever get referred for anything paid by the NHS at a private hospital - go for it.

Free parking, own room with lovely shower (which unable to use due to dressings), free tv, decent food and only are discharged when you see consultant/doctor a few weeks afterwards. Heard of people having surgery on NHS and get wound infected etc and the notes of surgery are never available for others to look at. If I did have a problem, I was given a phone number to speak to someone and depending on things, get asked to come down later that day.
As long as it is a simple, relatively risk free surgery. They don't do anything private that is complicated or really risky because they just aren't setup for it. Most don't even have a decent blood bank! Second it all goes wrong it's straight into an ambulance to the nearest A&E department. You better pray they have a SLA with an NHS blood bank so they can ship emergency O negs out while it's going wrong on the table!

This is why William should have become King instead as Charles took over too late, by the time the new notes show up with the Charles face on it they won't be here long.

Private hospitals are not geared for sudden surgery - bone pinning, blood clot removal from stroke, any other surgery after an accident

Best of luck to the king and all that but whilst doing so it's probably worth sparing a though for the 1000s of people who also received a cancer diagnosis the same day as the King. The Kings journey will be made as easy and as comfortable as its possible to be.

As Charles had prostate surgery last week, he had a routine blood, and perhaps a urine test. Something must have shown up which looks concerning and further tests proved there is cancer.

My friend’s mum has biannually blood tests for thyroid. This is how she was diagnosed with leukaemia.

My assumption was that during the surgery they found a lump or something in the bowel.

There is no doubt he will get care above and beyond what most people can expect. Nevertheless cancer is a horrible and scary disease and I wish him the best and hope for a speedy recovery.

Yep. My thoughts went to my Dad who is nearly 5 years in with stage 4 prostate cancer and a colleague with stage 3 bowel cancer who handed his notice in yesterday in preparation for starting his treatment. Both had to go through the standard 18 week NHS pathway for treatment.

Sons in an NHS queue... 3 years and counting!

The NHS in this country has been driven to the ground, once everyone's been forced to go private do we get a ni and tax reduction coz we ain't using it lol

Wouldn't wish cancer on anyone and I hope they've caught it early enough
