** Kingdom Come : Deliverance 2 **

I can't wait for this.. the first game is one of my favourites of all time.

I do recommend everyone plays the first one if they can as the story is a somewhat continuation (although i believe it isn't necessary) and you can see the way Hans and Henry develop there friendship which is great.

I really thought that the whole relationship would be so cliched but it really shone and I loved it.
Going rabbit hunting is still my favourite bit.. lolloping around trying to beat Hans with more rabbits.

I think best bit is the DLC in church yard, for those that know :p

This is also coming to Gog in the spring as well just in case anyone wanted to get it there. I might as playing witcher 3 soon may wait a bit and check prices etc

This does look good. tried the first recently and found it a bit too dated/clunky compared to other modern action rpg games, likely mainly due to the development budget etc.

I can see it had potential, and it looks like they may have released that potential in this second game.

The only thing I don't get on with in the first is fighting, just find it so difficult. I've always been terrible with remembering combos.

Dated and clunky? Or you lacked the skills to get in to it. :p

Dated and clunky.

I don't mean the gameplay either. I meant the overall immersive-ness. It came out around the same time as RDR2 and if you compare the world building, animations, facial expressions, atmosphere, technology etc then it makes it seem like KCD came out about a decade before it.

That isn’t a massive criticism as such. It is more that i've been spoilt by bigger budget titles that have just done it...better.

This time, it looks like they've made a good jump with all of that sort of thing so KCD2 looks more up my street.

I mean I kinda see where you are coming from, but if you don't play it you are missing out on a great story, and IMO necessary introduction to the second one and the protagonist in the story. Assuming you didn't finish it?

Agreed, I cheesed my way through the combat bits. That aside, absolutely one of my favourite games ever, the way they captured the landscape was phenomenal. I spent far too much time just walking around taking in the environment . Cranking up the graphics via the console was fun as well.

My perfect addition would be an option for simplified combat. Everything else is spot on.

Combat always put me off eventually on my play throughs even though I did I try to train up properly. If it is better on M+K then I'll buy it after release.

RDR2 is in my TOP3 games of all time.
I played KCD1 year after RDR2. It also entered my TOP3 (next to RDR2 and Witcher 3).

Yes, KCD has worse facial animations and animations in general. That's what happens when your budget is 18 million USD and not 400 million USD. But in regards to atmosphere and immersiveness, I could not disagree more. KCD (on hardcore mode in particular) is just as immersive, if not more. The world, the lighting, the NPC life routines, the gameplay mechanics (stuff like drinking having its own skill tree, having to learn to read..). And most of all - KCD actually gives player lot agency in its quests. You can do things in all kinds of ways and the game does not hand hold you.

In RDR2, as much as I love it, you get a "game over" screen if you park your horse a meter from where designer intended. I am not exaggerating, this literally happens. Every main mission is pretty much 100% linear. It has ton of insane detail in its open world, but its systems and mission design are unfortunately very restricted.

Well we will have to agree to disagree then. I don't think it's close, personally. RDR2 is like it's from a whole different generation. I think the Witcher 3 had for more immersiveness and atmosphere too.

Again, though this isn't about gameplay. It's about the "feel" of the world around you and the npcs you interact with.

To me, KCD just feels.."flat" if I had to find a word.

KCD2 looks like it has made big gains in this sense though so I'm excited to try it.
