Kingdom Come: Deliverance / Open-World RPG / Medieval History

I bought this a few weeks ago when it went on sale but have only just got around to playing it. Does anyone have any tips/mods for a new player?

Any performance settings advice would be a appreciated too - I have a Vega 64, the rest is in my sig below.

Thanks

Plus the new Band of B as ta rds DLC is out:

Woman's Lot, the last one, is about 70% done and will have both playable different character, but will also add some new content for Henry (probably the relationship with Theresa will be improved).

Likely to have a good chunk of spare time on my hands in a week or two and as this has been sat in my library for a couple of months I might give it a go then.

I have the Amorous Hans Capon and the Band... DLCs. Is it worth getting either of the others? I assume the game is well-patched and relatively bug-free now?

Also - any hints for a first playthrough?

They still patching things as you can see a few posts above yours.

As to any hints, take your time at the first area, get used to the mechanics, check what you can achieve and then go from there. If you do things right you can have some 2-300+ Grochen, built up your strength and a few other abilities. Or rush through and then do it later, up to you. Once you past the first area, train your weapon abilities, then train some more, explore and did I mention to train some more ? If not, train some more as well ! :p

Best tips is probably that the game wont be holding your hand as some other game does. ;) :p

Edit: ohh and at first in fights, don't expect it to be easy. If possible try to make them 1 on 1 at the beginning.

Yeah, I see patches are still coming out, I was just wondering if the game is in what most would consider a fairly bug-free state now (I recall there were a ton of complaints for quite some time after launch about various bugs, some being game-breaking)?

So, you're recommending I do some training? :D

I will make sure to look out for trainers.

I like non-handholding games, though. Or at least I used to (I grew up in the era where I had stacks of handwritten notes for games like the Might and Magic series, piles of hand-drawn maps for The Hobbit, etc.). Not many games put everything in the hands of the player, these days, though. I can imagine gubbins like quest markers would really pull you out of the immersion that this game seems to be based on.

How tricky is the combat to get to grips with? Any similarities to Mount & Blade? That was another game where the combat was really difficult at first, but once it clicked it felt really satisfying. Not sure I've played too many games that have done that well, so looking forward to seeing how this one manages it.

Thanks for the tips! :D

@strumpusplunket You welcome! I forgot one thing though. Only way to save is in your bed and schnappses (part from a save and quit one that is removed when you start the game next time) , there is mods on Nexus though that make it so you can save anywhere. Also 300 saves is the limit unless it been removed lately.

If anyone is having issues with crashing especially when doing a mission and autosave, try removing the mods folder, doing the mission/chatting and then put the mods folder back, it worked for me

I'm currently stuck on a quest where Zmola tries to kill the Miller in sasau just outside the monastery. I try to catch up with him but it looks like the quest has bugged out as he isn't there. I don't think I have a save before this happened, are there any console commands to skip/complete the current quest.?

Just reading some reviews for the new dlc.£6.99 for a dlc that is about 3 hours long....Whilst there are still enough bugs to fill most other games. Pass. I fired up the game earlier after a fresh install and was still getting the same ctd after the tourney I had months ago.

Just managed to find a previous save at the start of the quest and this time it went through OK. Still love this game despite it's potentially game-breaking bugs, just something about the atmosphere and graphics that draws me in.

Bought it in the sale, 2 days ago... loving it so far, got myself side tracked doing side missions and just got back to the main story line after having my butt handed to me a few times on my travels!!
