Kitchen Aid Mixer - Worth it?

This passive-aggressive side of you is lovely to see.
It's not even your money to spend, why do you care so much?
I'm never passive-aggressive - It takes too much time.
As for caring... I don't, and there's no point in caring, because you'd already made your choice before you even sumbitted the OP. I'm just having a laugh at your methods.

Ankarsrum Mixer if you mainly want to do doughs. They come with a variety of attachments too, so can replicate the Kenwood/Magimix/Kitchen Aid products.

yep - it's the souped up model - as the comment indicate running a dough hook at that high speed, wouldn't work in my Kenwood either,
... comments there about getting the spiral too.

I got a Kenwood 701A and rebuilt the gearbox a while after I first started the bread thing which came with a C hook, that wasn't great so we got another spiral type hook which wasn't that much better but it did get there eventually. I was just curious about the size of mixer he was using which seemed to jump about a bit.

I didn't see much jumping in video - mines a 701A - and its the hinge joint for the neck that shows more wear than the gearbox, and, like for KAartisan,
all that strain is reduced if you have the more robust bowl lift.
the spiral on the kenwood site for 701a is reputed to stop short of the bowl base, so although I'd like to see the action I'm holding off.

If I recall I adjusted ours down as low as possible. But I'll agree it does give just just short impression. As for the gearbox, the whole thing was bought as a doer-upper ie the none existent rubber feet and the Original cord was as expected for that era.. DANGEROUS, so I stripped the lot and rebuilt it from scratch. It's a shame because I seldom use it any more. Trusty ole kenny!

Had the Artisan for about 5 years, thing gets used a lot and no issues, feels properly solid. I bought it so it would last, and could be serviced. Sits next to my Gaggia Classic which I bought for some of the same reasons. The KA is a nice mint green which matches the rest of the kitchen too, so no issue leaving it out as it's attractive enough to stay on the bench and to be honest, it's so heavy you wouldn't want to move it out a cupboard every time it was needed.

I do also have a Kenwood food processor/blender to supplement, but as a cheaper model (sub £100) I don't think it will last forever and many of the plastic parts aren't fantastic, although it has been reliable for around 5 years too. I guess the current equivalent is the MultiPro.

EDIT: Pistachio

Does anyone have an Ankarsrum? Just interested as I really only want to make bread dough and these (at least on what I have read) is the best, albeit expensive, solution.

I have the kitchenaid processor and that is the same, loads of plastic.
