Klopp Out Arne In

According to a report by Sport BILD, Alonso, who signed a two-year contract extension with Leverkusen in August 2023 which runs until 2026, has a release clause for three specific clubs: Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Shocking news. Makes you realise just how great Fergie's reign at the top was though. Klopp hasn't even reached double figures. Xabi Alonso has to be a shoe in though, wish it was Gerrard :D

Fergie and even Wenger to some extent did wonders for many years albeit contrasting styles and fortunes. Klopp taking it to City over the years made the EPL a great watch.

Probably some FFP stuff about to come out ;) Odd that everyone else is going with him. I guess if Moyes is coming in he traditionally likes to bring in his own staff and bin off the successful ones!

Fair play to him. I applaud what he has done. I actually think Liverpool will win the prem this year and I think this decision will spur the team and fans on even more as a final send off.

Just watched the interview, as he says he's pretty much running on empty after doing it for 24 odd years. Absolutely gutted but understand his reasons why. Thank you Jurgen.

Genuinely gutted, the man's an absolute legend and has probably done more for the club than anyone in my lifetime, even Gerrard.

But the timing is actually quite good, in a way. Alonso will clearly be going to a big club at the end of the season, and it's perfect timing. I can only imagine that this has happened with that already in motion.

I have to admit watching his announcement brought a tear to my eye. I've been a Liverpool fan since the 70's so I've seen the good times and the bad but apart from bringing success Klopp also brought, well simply put and it will sound corny, but he brought love.

You saw it in the way he hugged his players, in the way he saluted the supporters and the way he greeted most managers.

He just seemed like a lovely person and his warm persona will be a loss to the Premier League. I hope one day he gets a statue etc at Anfield along with Daiglish.
