Korean Grand Prix 2011, Yeongam Circuit - Race 16/19

Ahh, I remember that! Can't remember why so few drivers finished though?

Wet weather didn't help. Five cars were eliminated on the opening lap, including Schumacher crashing at the corner between Loews and the tunnel (Portiere is it?). Hill's engine blew while leading, Berger lost his gearbox, Diniz had similar issues, Alesi had a suspension failure, and everyone else crashed including a three car pile-up near the end involving Irvine, Salo and Hakkinen.

I don't have an RU login (if anyone wants to send me an invite it will be very gratefully received). I did find a site once where a guy had put up Rapidshare links for almost every GP from the last 30 years. I will see if I can track it down again.

Would explain a lot about why Hamilton seemed so dejected on the weekend. I know this has been mentioned here before, but this is the first I have seen it reported in the papers.

This is the 3rd 'papers' story as to why he seemed down (along with arguing with his team and arguing with his dad).

I particularly like the "A source said..." bits. Untill Lewis himself confirms anything, its just more tabloid bumph.

Don't forget the other freak Mugen win - Panis, Ligier, Monaco '96 :)

Only three cars made it to the flag that day....

Didnt recall Ligier having Mugen - I thought they had Peageot or something lol

Magny Cours isnt anywhere near Paris? (or arent you talking about f1?)

Sorry totally confused

-edit - laughs, yeah ok I need to get my eyes checked (well no not really, long story but any "fixed" lens wont help)

yeah good win for Panis for sure, but anyone can win around Monaco in the right kind of car , Spa is completely different though (both classic circuits, but you can get away with murder around Monaco just because of the unusual nature of it

Remind us how Toyota did with their money and unlimited testing?

They employeed the wrong people and tried to steal the electronic secrets from ferrari instead of making their own car. Of course money isn't everything but it certainly hasn't hampered all the teams that won the title since 2000.

An engine freeze doesn't help either, hardly lets you catch up when you are behind of already great units.

It's a shame Lewis has let his private life become so crucial to his professional career, but I guess that is the price to pay for having the Lewis lifestyle and management he now has.

How about, rather than all the wild theories about him having fights with people or falling out with everyone, it is simply a case that he has learnt that whatever he says to the media at a race is being complained about, so he has decided to just do 'a Kimi' and say nothing at all.

According to 'the papers' he has fallen out with his Dad, had a completely irreversible argument with McLaren, been dumped by his girlfriend, and had to been consoled on the grid by his boss, all in one weekend.

Sucks to be him. Unless of course, its just all made up twoddle by the press and he's just decided to shut up and get on with it. But I suppose theres no story in that.

And anyway, Korea was the best race weekend he has had in months, perhaps he should have a fight with everyone before each race :D

I wouldn't mind :p the papers can write all they want. I would be earning millions and racing round most weekends :)

U wouldn't feal down if you just broke up? U can't just shut that out and be all happy and chirpy to the camera.

Think he did rather well to pull of pole and 2nd place with his current form.

just a quick rewind to an earlier post, little known fact is that Button's BGP-01 chassis, number 2 which he used for every race in 2009 is one of the most successful F1 chassis' of all time...and he now owns it!
