Lad breaks into a house and is killed...

Christ, I know he doesnt seem to have been a particularly well behaved lad, but some of the stuff cropping up is pretty harsh lol

but youre ok with people in here saying the the probably illegal use of deadly force was justified in response to burglary...
Not many people have actually said that though, in fact I don't remember anyone saying that at all.

What most people are saying is that if someone breaks into your house using force and breaking the law, you do not know what they are doing there or what other laws they have or are intending to break.

Other's have said that; 'he got what he deserved' however without them elaborating on their opinion, or going into it further I cannot say for sure whether they were indicating burglary or the 'intruder in your home' viewpoint.

At least though even if they did, it's not a hypocritical statement conveyed with the typing skills of a 4 year old.

To say that someone did not deserve to die for B&E, then saying that someone deserves to die for mere opinion is pure stupidity and not at all logical (though probably the norm for most of humanity).

Out of interest, where does the law lie on challenging people who illegally enter your house. Is it open season for burgular killers?

It comes down to two simple words and how you / the judges interpret them and they are,

REASONABLE FORCE.

You are fully justified in taking someone down in your own home with enough force to halt any impending attack that would "THREATEN YOUR LIFE"

Knocking someone out would be classed as reasonable force for an unarmed assailant, however, bludgeoning him into the carpet afterwards, would not.

As for the 17 yr old in the OP, reading between the lines of the comments from people that knew him, it would appear he was up to no good and had no right to be there.
If he died of one stab wound, fair enough, but if he'd been repeatedly attacked, there is definitely something that needs looking into.

Anyone else find it hilarious that the same day her son got stabbed to death, the mother wrote on her facebook about it?

His mother Michelle, 34, refused to speak to the press but wrote on her Facebook page: 'Why, why, why, why, why? I want my baby back.'

Depends on the state, and whether they have duty to retreat legislation and in what guise. However, the bottom line in most cases is that the laws aren't that different to the UK, with the exception of weapon laws and concealed carry laws to back up the self defence aspect.

I dunno, since these Castle Doctrines specify when deadly force can be used. This seems quite different to the UK where all we get is an instruction to use reasonable force only. As can be seen from this thread, people's interpretations of what is reasonable force differs wildly.

Personally I think it's quite unreasonable to judge someone's behaviour when they are frightened by intruders in their own home in the cold, sterile environment of a police interrogation cell or courtroom.

The guy was obviously a dirty little piece of thieving scum and speaking as someone who has confronted two of the ****s red-handed in the act of robbing my house.

He brought it upon himself, if he wasn't there by then he wouldn't have got killed! Simple as that.

Very cathartic actually seeing this in the news.

I've had enough living surrounded, intimidated, robbed and humiliated by scrotes like this for years. I'd have gladly paid money to watch the look on his face and listen to every laboured, painful breath and pathetic whimper as he died.

Have you been burgled? It makes you feel like **** when you see your house upside down. Trust me you won't be saying "oh don't worry we've got it all insured!" :p

What about the ones we see on crimewatch? Murdering people, injuring people, blind folding/tieing people up. This stuff leaves people traumatised severely. They don't have a care in the world. So why should people stop giving them a taste of their own medicine?

No, I have not been burgled. The closest I've come to that is when my parent's car nearly got stolen from our front drive when I was younger.

There's lots of things that I haven't experienced. Oddly enough though, I don't think that murder is the best solution to everything.

So you'd shoot/stab a burglar on-site judging by what you've seen in a Crimewatch episode?

lol thats one ugly laddie like.
well deserved.

So if he was good-looking, then its not so deserved?

Looks like a potentially dubious cycle has been averted then.

Oh wow, fantastic logic there. Really good stuff.
