Don't know yet we go to stay with my Aunt in San Francisco so we look in the local paper when we get there and get a cheap deal then. Usually we go for the more cheap and cheerful end, Excalibur, NYNY, Luxor and save our money for the Casinos :D

Bellagio though. *droooooool* Also love TheHotel at the Mandalay Bay. Remember seeing that being built *reminisces*

NYNY is my favourite of the 3 you've listed though we use the Bellagio nowadays , great hotel and the best location on the strip

when taking a taxi from the airport if the go out of the airport through a tunnel and on to the I15 freeway don't tip them as they have ripped you off by going the long way round

They are not allowed to take this route without asking you but they will disguise the question or tell you that there has been an accident on the strip ( if they ask at all )

They did this to me, said there was a really bad queue on the strip but she knew a shortcut round it. We thought she was lying but it's hard to say anything especially as we hadn't been before so weren't to know otherwise.
When we saw the strip it was busy but the traffic was moving.

Taxi cost about $20 so probably not as bad as it could have been.

Flamingo is fine , superb location
re Penn and Teller then this is not one of the big vegas shows, the ones to see are ( in order ) Ka , Mystere, O , Blue man

re the lessons , many do this in the morning , while I cant give you a conclusive list Bally's certainly do ( 10 mins from Flamingo )
I didnt fancy the cirque du soleil shows cos I thought they'd be a bit arty farty :o are they really that good then? cos the ticket prices make me  so wouldnt fancy seeing one if it was crap!

In addition to the above, try the rides on the top of the stratosphere tower, these things are for the purely insane, especially Insanity the ride. Looking at the stratosphere website, it looks like the roller coaster is no longer running.

Isn't the roller coaster shut down because some guy jumped off the tower due to gambling losses

O is a bit like that but Ka and Mystere aren't

not that I know of , the roller coaster is closed as they are replacing it with something new

Was there a few weeks ago.

The rollercoaster is being replaced, the other rides are fine and I went on all of them.

Also did a grand canyon helicopter tour. Great fun.

didn't know anyone did Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Vegas anymore , thought that the only ones were to the west canyon , who was it with ?

I'm off to Vegas on 16th March for a week at the Bellagio with a couple of mates.

I definitely want to take a trip to the Grand Canyon. I have had a couple of people reccomend this site http://www.looktours.com/grandcanyon.html for the GC trips. Any ideas which is the best one to go for? I don't fancy 14hrs on a coach so its probably between the plane and the helicopter.

I did one. It was $275.

Well worth it. They flew you from Vegas airport all the way to the Canyons. They go past the hoover dam too, allowing you to get some great pictures.

The whole trip takes around 3 hours.

They land in the canyons and you have a quick lunch with some champagne and a look around.

Given that there is almost two hours of fly time it was great.

at 3 hours that would almost certainly would have been to the west canyon ( west rim ) , this is one of the great cons of Vegas , so many folks thinking they have been to the Grand Canyon when they have not

If you land in the Canyon then it is not the Grand Canyon , helicopters are not allowed to fly below the rim of the Grand Canyon

the one you went on would probably have been to an area about 100 miles from the South Rim in a reservation owned by the hualapai indians , tecjhnicall it is just about part of the Grand Canyon but it is not what is generally accepted as the GC

sorry :( , just trying to avoid poeple who are visiting from getting something different to what they think they are getting

there is nothing wrong with the west rim it is a great place it just isn't what people think they are getting

When we went to the grand canyon we drove to the South Rim, went to the visitor centre and drove across to Desert View stopping at the viewing points for pictures. It's about 25 miles between the south rim and desert view. Although compared to the size of the canyon 25 miles isn't a lot for us it was enough, you get some great views.

I'm not sure where the coach tours take you but being able to drive and stop where we wanted was good. If you have a driving license and are over 21 I'd definitely look at hiring a car for the day. Although it's a long round trip from Vegas (700+ miles IIRC); 2 of us split the driving. With a decent the car the drive is very easy, the roads were clear once out of Vegas.

If you fly there I guess you just stop at the 1 place?
