** LATE BUT IN FASHION: SAMSUNG G700 GAMING LAPTOP ARRIVING TOMORROW! **

You mean speed/Size or "name of"?. My Samsung NP700G7A-S01-UK, has TWO 750GIG hard drives, both of which have a spin speed of 7200 RPM. However, the ones ive seen lately (including ocuk one) have 2 Terabytes, but only 5200 Spin. I prefer the 2 fast ones i have for sake of a bit more space.

Tony

Its 2x1 TB Hardrives with only 5200 spin, but i'd suggest doing what many have done here and swap it out for a 128 or 256gb ssd (my windows performance for the hd when up gtom 5.9 to 7.6 for the storage value).

1 question b4 making decisions. For those who have already owe the laptop, would you pls let me know the difference of the screen with the macbook pro (Glossy)?
Especially color and contrast , I prefer the glossy screen which makes the movie more bright. So hope this laptop is equiped with a powerful screen

This laptop has the best screen of any laptop ;) colour, contrast and is very very bright at 100% 400nits. I have not seen a better glossy screen yet and I have seen all the mac screens from the mac pros to the airs.

Display: 17.3" SuperBright 400nit FHD 3D LED Display (1920 x 1080) (120Hz)

If your only worry is the quality of the screen then don't worry it will make you go wow even when you have the 3D glasses on :D.

I haven't got hands on experience with a Mac Pro, but the Sammy screen on this laptop is indeed very good, great viewing angles and really rich colours, great contrast depth. Looking at the specs for the Mac Pro though it can have a higher resolution than the Samsung.

I have got this laptop a few days ago. I must say it must be the most brilliant piece of computing kit I have ever purchased + VAT back makes it a true steal. I have a macbook pro and this screen beats it for sure. The 3d is absolutely amazing.

For fellow owners, do you know what model 3d glasses are compatible with this laptop?
I want to get one so I can watch movies with the missus but prefer not to fork out £60-70 on the same SSG-M3750 when I see many other samsung 3d glasses from £20 onward.

I can't find any info on compatible 3d glasses with this laptop, any help will be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Just a quick thanks to the folks who replied in my thread on choosing this or waiting.
Ordered on Wed and arrived yesterday, so far I am very impressed, lovely screen for gaming and really nice touch with the mode dial.
Only tried the 3d briefly and again very nice although can only compare to my 3DS.

With the vatback offer this will have cost me around £1185, bit of a no brainer really.

Hi, Thank you for your quick reply. I am aware that SSG-M3750CR/EN is available for sale but the price is quite expensive at £80-£100. I was wondering if anyone knows if a lower priced 3d glasses that will work on this laptop is available.

I don't play games in 3d and was contemplating selling off the glasses initially but the 3d for movies is so good I decided to keep them. Unfortunately I watch most movies with the missus and I would now need to get another pair of 3d glasses if I want to watch 3d movies -.-. Thanks for help.

Sorry to say I don't think there is any others that will work these are the new bluetooth 3D glasses with some new active shutter tech from what I understand and they work with the very latest screens only. Check the link of devices they work on and you will see what I mean. Yes they are expensive around £100 at the moment.

If you have a 3D TV with glasses you can use the laptop to display to the TV and use the TVs glasses to see the 3D. The laptop can do that. So maybe a good Idea to send movies to a 3D TV and in most cases you will have more than 1 set of glasses for the TV.

Yes the screen on the laptop is amazing for 3D Movies and Games, wait till Avatar comes out on Bluray in 3D ;), I have the 3D Bluray disk here that came with a Panasonic Bluray player and it is amazing on the laptop and i'm not a big fan of 3D at all and it surprised me.

So I'm going to wipe the laptop and install an SSD. I have one initial question about the graphics driver, I've downloaded to the from the Samsung support page which looks like it is version 8.863.0.0. The one currently on the laptop is 8.863-110628a-121992C-Samsung. Now, I want to know if I should download one from AMD's site, which if you try to do you can only appear to install a "compatability checker" before it will let you download a driver proper. I thought rather than running this on the laptop I would quickly ask if there was any point doing this or whether the driver on Samsungs web site is the proper one for this laptop.

Edit: Also, which of the wireless drivers do you install? Intel, Broadcom, Atheros? Laptop appears to have the Broadcom dirver installed but also has an entry for "Atheros Client Installation Program" in the list of installed progs

I'm considering this laptop, currently trying out an Asus N55S which is superb but the video card is a 635M which is only "OK".

Can get 40fps on Modern Warfare 3 at 1600x900. Is the Radeon 6970m much quicker?

GTX635M is about the same as a GTX570M which in turn is about the same as a 6970M , if that makes any sense :D:D

anyone have the same problem as mine with this laptop? When I switch from a/c power to battery, the laptop turns off automatically (sleep mode) and I have to turn it back on to resume.

Never had this problem before...it only happens when switching from a/c power to battery power.

You mean when you pull the power cable out while it is on the system will go into sleep mode ?

If so no I don't have this problem but again I disable all sleep and hibernation features on my laptops threw the power settings, you will need to do that on all the mode dial settings, set the dial at one setting then go into that settings power settings and maybe tweek them.

Not sure how you have that laptop setup to do that. But to answer your question no mine does not do that but again mine has a clean windows 7 ultimate 64bit on it and I fully set it up so behaves different from samsungs installed OS.

Also just a note don't set the amd graphics to max performance when on battery or you may find strange things happen like the system just switches off and will not come back on unless you plug the power cable back in and power cycle it again. This is a known issue and not a fault by the way many highend laptops if they have their power settings messed about with while they are on battery will do this when the CPU or Graphics maxes out what the battery can provide even when fully charged (You can't game on any gaming laptop at max GPU and CPU performance on the battery without having a power failure at some point, this is why such laptops are required to be plugged in to really enjoy their full power, they will game perfectly fine on battery aslong as you have not fiddled with the power options that were set and the games will run slower compared to when the laptop is plugged in, try a benchmark when plugged in and when on battery you will see what I mean, but do make sure all the power options are back to Samsungs defaults). So maybe go into your power options and click defaults to revert them back to Samsungs correct settings and disable or enable things you want again, but don't fiddle with the graphics power settings and again remember to do this in all the mode dial settings and in the amd drivers power options too.

You will see the 6970M is in a totally different class ;) it is more than twice as fast.

The new model has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M. Does the older model with the 6970m still beat it on paper ?

Not according to NotebookCheck http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-675M.70785.0.html

"The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M is a the fastest single-GPU laptop graphics card as of March 2012"

"the GeForce GTX 675M is as fast as the old GTX 580M and is this noticeably more powerful than the GTX 670M and AMD Radeon HD 6970M. "

Their comparison chart rates the GTX670M 13% faster than the 6970M
