Lateness at work

But not much i can do now, the supervisor has it in for me because i moan at him because his job is pointless and he does not know what he is doing, so this is his way of getting back at me. The client is not moaning and the last guy left because the company was full of bs. They are not exactly the best company to work for.

No, no and no again. You supervisor "has it on for you" because of your continual lateness, nothing more, nothing less. The fault lies at your door.

Stop blaming public transport, what about all of the days when public transport was not at fault?

I find your attitude astounding. Getting up earlier to be at work on time? Boo hoo.

I really hope you are in my industry as competing for jobs with people like you will make my life a lot easier.

I'd have sacked you by now!

I would have sacked you a looong time ago.

I would have sacked you long ago and given the job to one of the 1000's of people would would actually want the job.
If it was up to me I’d have had you disciplined and sacked a long time ago.

I would have sacked you a long time ago.......

If you worked for me you would have been sacked that month for being a complete useless idiot.

But [email protected] have sacked you by now,

Just remember that your new job might be with one of us. :D

That is because the trains were continuously bad after the tube strikes i left 30mins earlier but was delayed for 1 hour etc.

So the next day i was not going to go in an hour earlier, so i just said "f it" and went in at the same time as usual and that is why i was late. I guess now because of that attitude, i am going to have to come in 30 mins early everyday and to people that think you can come in to work and read a book, that is a joke. You come in early and you will be expected to work, not like i can tell people, i don't start till 8am come back then. I am not going to sit at starbucks every morning for 30 mins. But not much i can do now, the supervisor has it in for me because i moan at him because his job is pointless and he does not know what he is doing, so this is his way of getting back at me. grab your coat your "sacked" so you dont want to be in 30 mins early cause you dont want to sit in starbucks or read a book. get a grip! these kind of ppl p*ss me off there are thousands of people who need/want a job who will be on time then theres people like this who think they can get away with anything. YOU were late, YOU are lazy get your finger out of your a** and do something about it.

No one goes in to work 30 mins early every morning. Well not anyone i have worked with. How many of you arrive at work 30mins early every morning?

For heaven's sake, you're not being told to arrive 30 mins early, just to GET THERE ON TIME. It doesn't matter how, or what method of transport you use, but it is your responsibility to arrive at the start of your day/shift, not 20-60 minutes into it! If your chosen method of transport is so unreliable that you have to allow extra time to arrive ON TIME, that's not your employer's problem!

loool 90% of people arrive work before they start 10% are people like you.
it's call being punctual. being early will give you excelent references than someone whos always late.

Everyone I've worked with is read to go at their start time. Those that don't have start times are always on time (early) for meetings and conferences. It's your responsibility to ensure you're there for your start time. Since you do shifts, that means that when your shift starts you need to be there. Simples.

Get with the real world :)

I make sure im 30 minutes early for several reasons. 1) Im on time. 2) If something goes wrong im on hand to deal with it. 3) Get emails and tasks sorted. 4) Get a coffee and eat some breakfast.

Arriving early is just an easier way to start the day

But you wont be 30 mins early everyday as by your own admission public transport is **** and constantly late, so by definition, by leaving 30 mins early you'll actually be on time occasionally!

When I used to work shifts, if I got to work 15mins early because the traffic was light or something, I'd use that time to make a brew, take a slash, get a paper from the canteen etc. I'd always be sat at my workstation ready to start my shift at my alloted time though - always - without fail.

I tend to every morning, I start at 8am, up at 6am, get sorted, out the door for 6:45am and on the 7 - 7:15am train which means I get into town at 7:30am I will head to work and spend 25 minutes getting stuff done to make my day easier.

I can certainly say, there were a few here that were like yourself, the late arrivals all the time the excuse's, they were out the door within a month due to the constant shocking time keeping.

It's not hard to get up on time for work, there are days we all have that we wished we didn't have to get up but at the end of the day we are paid to do a job, we aren't paid to turn up when we feel like it. Out of interest, when you do go in late, do you stay back to make up for the time you have missed? You are being paid for a set number of hours, no matter how harsh it seems, employers do not pay you to turn up and do the work you feel like doing, if you are paid for 8 hours a day of work then it's 8 hours you do regardless.

I used to, because getting the later train ran the risk of me being late. ;)

I do every day , even if it's to just make coffee and talk balls with everyone.

Working through lunch hours is no excuse nor getting up late and blaming public transport , start times and lunch schedules are done for a reason weather you like them or not.

I take you have been verbally warned ? If so the next step will be this disciplinary , take it and don't argue. Going forward catch the earlier train / bus or start looking for a new job.

Unless you have been there less than a year then I think you need to start looking for a new one now.

I've had a few talkings to about my lateness at work, but yours is pretty silly. 8 HOURS late in total is pretty poor to be honest! Admittedly I've been "late" numerous times but 90% of those are by 1 or 2 minutes. I start at 5am and drive 15 miles to work, and on the odd occasion the main road's been shut and I've had to divert which adds 15 minutes so I've phoned ahead and informed them. That's one thing I hate about early starts, that little bit of motivation to leave a few minutes earlier just in case :p
