Laurence Fox

Social media is chock full of people who endlessly go on about canceling/defunding the BBC.

Wanting to get rid of things you hate will never be specific to one political ideology.

This is an obviously nonsensical comparison....

Very few people want the BBC taken off air.

Many people want the law changed so that we are no longer forced, under threat of criminal law, to pay for the BBC if we want to watch *any* form of live broadcast.

And even if we don't want to watch any live TV we don't want the BBC's hired goons harassing us because we have the temerity to not have a TV licence.

'Defund the BBC' isn't the same as a call for GB News to be taken off line. Its a call to stop the scandalous situation outlined above.

The thing is, I am sure there is an audience for Fox's stuff but he just comes across very thick.

If he didn't have the vaguely posh accent he'd not be taken remotely seriously. Reminds me of a lot of people I went to school with actually, chip on his shoulder, bully etc. I can imagine the type of person he is, one I avoid at all costs.

I'm increasingly finding out now that the news is the news, as in newscasters saying (or doing):something that they shouldn't have.

Then there's a follow up tweet from someone else, and a big discussion about the reaction etc. It's just a load of boring rubbish IMO.

Bring back the days when newsreaders weren't expected to be celebrities or have their own opinions. I just want a boring person to deliver the facts that are as accurate as possible.

We're never going back to that, and Fox is not a newsreader.

People are drawn to personalities and charisma. Using Jill Dando as an example, because I've just watched the Netflix documentary about her murder, she had an incredible ability to draw people into the news, regardless of what she was covering.

I'm not someone who wants GB News taken off air either. It's just hard to take them seriously when considering the amount of issues they've had since launching.

Very few people want GB News taken off the air. Half the population isn't even that arsed about politics let alone perceived political biases on TV channels.

The problem as always been a small group of bigots who don't want to have any other opinion than their own.

There is a video going around of Aaron Bastani being confronted because he appears on GBNews (to put the left wing view).

It seems society hasn't learned that every conflict starts with trying to shut down the opposition. Every conflict ends when the two sides talk.

His acting career ended, before launching himself as a musician (and is appalling), now he's trying to keep himself out there with his opinions which spiral further and further off the rails. Guess anyone who gives him the time of day are as much to blame. They know what's coming.

I think the vast majority just want GB News to have to act as an actual news station and so be impartial. At the moment its anything but that. Tory MPs interviewing Tory MPs is laughable. If the BBC or ITV starting doing that on its news programming no matter which party they were from there would rightly be outrage. Either stick to the rules of being a news channel or drop the "news" from its name and just be an entertainment channel.
