LBP almost certain not to get #1 spot

Haze wasn't that bad cheets, the major disappointment around it was that it was made by the team behind TimeSplitters and that at the time, the PS3 needed a good FPS game, since then Bioshock has been announced.

Sure, it wasn't a great game, but it wasn't as bad as some would have you believe.

There was plenty of hype for all those titles, TRL wasnt a 360 exclusive mind, I didnt think this thread was about hype, it was about sales. Several people said LBP will be better than Fifa 09, and i agree, not because i own a PS3 but i can see the potential for this game has and the near limitless fun i can have with it. Fifa in the end is a footy game and will be a very good one at that, that will appeal to the millions of people who bought fifa 07,08, euro champs etc etc, it will sell well in the EU, do ok in Asia and be non existent in the US, LBP will sell well the world over i expect.

The opening post made reference to the fact that this game deserves to get to no.1. That's before anyone's played it.

I'm not arguing that this game won't be very good but we at least normally wait until we've played a title before putting it on a pedestal.

To be honest, Home is probably the biggest hype around. I was very caught up in it at the beginning, and now it's taken so long to reach us, I've very much come to terms with the fact, I'm not interested in it atall now :D

Well it's not like there's a ton of platformers out which revolve around solving physics-based puzzles cooperatively, is there? If that doesn't appeal to you then obviously you wont get the hype. Personally it gets me excited, even without considering the content creation and sharing aspects.

Not sure what you mean by that, but I guess I don't post/read THAT much in the games forums. Perhaps you're right. At the point I posted about thestig I thought he had a fair point but after that it did turn in to a trolling session.

And I'm not bringing things up against you; you make it sounds like i'm getting personal! I reply to posts I think need a response.

That's how it always starts with him, his first post was there purely to start something. You get used to it after a while which is why I tried to get him to stop.

In regards to being around longer than 5 minutes, I've had it with many posters who haven't been in consoles too long and they often have something to say about why I say things, but without being big headed, I'm usually right as I do read all the threads and know a lot of the posters and how they behave. Had you posted more over the last 6 months you'd have seen what TheStig1 was trying a mile off :p.

I think they have all posted in this thread already? As you say it is not necessarily a bad thing as they sometimes have good opinions too.

btw FIFA/PES and any other annual multi plat game (COD5?) will easily outsell LBP. These games come out at the same time every year and they sell very well to average gamers and have very long established fan bases. (I am not certain but I think EA have had the largest selling annual game every year for like 6 yrs or something).



Also: Save the Cheerleader and Watch Season 3 of Heroes which begins on BBC2 in September showing 8 days after the USA broadcast

Fifa 09 will sell like crazy but won't bring anything new to gaming.
LBP won't sell as many copies as fifa but is bringing more to gaming than another updated sports game.

I don't think there was much hype for Tomb Raider Legend, Ninja Gaiden II got it's hype from fans more than the media, Smash Brothers got a fair bit but Nokkon is right, it's certainly nowhere near what Zelda was getting.

I'm looking forward to Little Big Planet, I hope theres a demo though... the PS3 has a distinct lack of demo's for games I'm interested in :o

I don't think it'll be a flop at all, but I'm just not expecting it to be a game that I'll come back to again and again. Which on the other hand, FIFA always does get me to come back to it.
 
Well aside from all this bickering, when did we care what was at 'Number 1' I don't cry when Britney releases an album the same day as something good. I know that most of the people will be suckered into her saggy baps and leave the good stuff for me.
