Frederic Saussett in the #84 Garage 56 entry seems to be lapping within about 30 seconds of the normal LMP2 cars, which is bloody impressive!

Agreed. The way they're getting him in and out of the car seemed a bit novel, but I suppose howelse could they do it? But, what he's achieving here is incredible. :)

Toyota have a good advantage here - they're not likely to get an opportunity like this again.

The fact the car is also being driven by 2 able bodied drivers is equally as impressive. Its not a fully custom built car just for him, the modifications can be swapped in and out pretty rapidly.

In a little over a lap, the #1 porsche will drop behind the #84.. You'd almost think they'd give up at that point.

As the commentators have mentioned, there's only a small LMP1 field, and this is double points in the WEC. Even if they are last it would still be stupid to give up unless the car literally refuses to work.

Edit: there's a 9 car field, so even if everyone else finishes and they come last, there's still 4 points available for the #1.

I quite like the "never give up" approach you get from these types of races.
Still 14 hours to go, suppose it wouldn't be surprising to see a front runner drop out.

Haha, loved that race director radio call. Bit of sass.

love that from the race director there

"Team manager car 7, please ask your driver if he is having trouble seeing the blue flags being shown to him!"

D'oh, safety car again.
