*** League of Legends ***

its probably uber popular in asia and over there they have televised gaming tournaments etc and seeing as LOL has already had tournaments of its own i guess they can see a return on that 400mil.

bad decision imo though with dota2 around the corner with valves backing

Dota2 currently is closer to Hon/Dota than LoL. Doesn't mean it won't be a success but what makes Hon and Dota so good doesn't necessarily translate to why LoL has appealed so much better to the masses. Not that i'm not excited to see Dota 2 come to fruition :)

400 million though, even with currently 1 million active players its hard to see how a return could be made on this

Did anyone watch it? How did the bots do ?

The bots won, stream peaked at almost 31k viewers and the Riot players generally sucked.

The most interesting aspect of the stream was the 'revealing' of a potential new feature regarding shields being displayed in the HP bar.

Right now the HP bar is made up of many 100hp blocks, the change shown last night basically makes some of the blocks grey when you have a shield up.

It's a great feature and I can't wait until it's added as it really helps you see the strength of a shield and judge whether or not to engage/harass.

Any tips on Malphite?

Sure, what exactly are you looking for? Advice on item choices, a skill build or just general character advice?

Also I really hope that the shield animation viewed by everyone on the stream is because of the editor toolset/client they were playing the game in and isn't actually planned as an inclusion.

Why not? I was playin as Sion yesterday (only my second game as him) and being able to see when your shield is going to fall so you can explode it would be very helpful.

Most of the time you'll want Doran's Shield now, although Ring works if you know who you're laning against (and they don't offer up much harassment).

Q E Q W Q R Q E would be the best early skill order (basically max Q first).

It's usually not worth using Q to harass too much until you have it at level 2, I use it early just because sitting with full mana is inefficient and you may as well put out some harassment, but don't go over the top.

First trip back should be Sorc Boots (1100) + HP Pots/Ward if needed (might not need either).

After that I generally either get a Giant's Belt (1110) or Chain Vest (700), or even a Negatron Cloak (740). this really depends on what you are laning against, the enemy team composition and how well you are doing.

Usually end up with Sorc Boots, Sunfire and Banshee's as a core which can be expanded depending on what you face.

He can jungle as well, but not really recommended.

Because it would make the game far too easy aswell as hindering a few characters. The fact you have to guess the amount before you break Malphite's or Sion's shield makes them far harder to harass.

Hi all, I've downloaded this on a whim and played a bunch. The servers have been all over the place (eu anyway) and friends isn't working. It reminds of early steam :P

Im nearly level 12 and mostly playing as fiddlesticks. I've been on 3v3 and only played 5v5 once (won the second :D) Does anyone have any tips? Particularly against assassins even with ghost (and hopefully flash soon) I get caught a lot and die.

Also how different is Lol now to what DotA2 will be?

No idea about Fiddle in 3v3, best bet is teamwork and strategic usage of your silence and fear.

Regarding LoL and DOTA2, the latter will end up being a pure clone of the original DOTA, which means far less forgiving game play, less comebacks, more focus on single champions carrying the game and less skill shots.

Might be worth having a look at http://www.mobafire.com/ and looking up fiddlesticks builds and see if any suit your play style. Will give you tips on what runes to buy and items etc
