Legend of Mir

Sorry for the bump but just searched for the forums for any threads on this as I was having a nostalgia trip

TubzTheGreat checking in :D

I loved this game so fricking much. No game has ever come close in terms of community.

I remember my first day running around then seeing WolfBlass and Hardonnails, the two leaders of EmeraldFusion. They gave me like a little trial to suss me out, and then let me join the guild. A few months later and I had my first real sense of responsibility, taking the lower level guys on a small hunt to WT, we did really well and I got promoted within the guild. Was part of EF for a year or two, before eventually getting kicked out for an argument and joining Apex at their prime

Got married in game (lolololol) to Claz2K1 inside Zuma Temple Kings Room, was epic, and for my gift, was given a Judgement Mace with +1 DC and +2 Luck, quite the gift. Remember owning Sabuk Wall for absolutely ages, and had so many good memories in the battles

Too many times I'd play until the early hours of the morning. Only to wake up in my computer chair staring at a black and white screen surrounded by bugs in Bug Cave. I remember once doing that and losing that mace, only to be given it back after making a thread on the forums

I used to be friends with Carl (the guy who did the TV show) in game as he was a part of our guild, although it was private at the time. So regularly got good tv spots.

Oh the memories

What guild was Carl in?

This used to have a tv channel on sky, that's how i found out about it. Suppose it was my first mmo, didn't really play it properly though.

Game network, was quite an awful channel really xD The one that was in Italian half the time?

This game used to take a lot of my time up and I wish I could do it all over again with a similar game. Was Myth of Soma ever popular, or near as popular as Mir2?

Just stumbled upon this thread and brought so many great memories back of a super game! I've not come across a game that matches mir2, was simply amazing, I had endless nights of fun raiding with guilds to Stone Temple, Zuma Temple and Evilmir! So wish they would bring the original pay to play game back with our old characters! I miss my dragon slayer! :-(

I'm hoping that Path of Exile will be a game that has similar values to mir but I'm doubtful :-/

Ah Mir, what a game, probably the best game I've ever played and also the game I have put the most amount of hours into by far.

I started playing Mir during open beta after going round a mates after school and him showing it to me. I started out as a Wiz named EDDS and played until the open beta finished because then they started charging monthly and at that age it wasn't even an option to start paying a monthly sub. 6 months or so later with increased pocket money and with a new "splash plastic" card I was back.

I played on my Wiz for a good few years, the hunts down to ZT KR were my favourite, clearing out everything up to KR then waiting hours for ZT to spawn for it to only drop gold. I was in Calacirian in the early years before it sort of disbanded (it was revived at a later point though). After leaving cala and looking for a new guild I ended up in Revival and was there for a long time, I ended up leaving them though as it turned out they were basically ******** (at least the leaders were).

I remember the situation still, we had just killed ZT and it had dropped D bells, being a Wiz with a kinda of mediocre kit I could have done with the D bells and seeing as I was the only Wiz there I thought oh great I'll get these as Revival worked drops on a who needs system, but it turns out the other group members had other ideas... basically another member who came as a warrior (but had a wizard chara) wanted them and was willing to give me his D bells dura 3 while he got the fresh set that had dropped. Now bear in mind I had been in Revival for a very long time, always going on guild hunts, responding to requests for backup when other members got in fights (which was a lot) and generally just being the best type of member I could be. In all the time I had been in Revival I had not been given a single rare drop, I never had any problem when something dropped and someone needed it, I was always watching other group members get the rares thinking one day it'll be my turn. So this was the point I had had enough and basically told them to go F themselves and left for another guild.

I later created a Warrior, EDDSTheSecond (yes it's the lamest name ever that I still regret), this was my main character through most of the years of Mir. I also created a Tao in the last few years of Euro Mir called RandyGiles (Buffy reference).

When Mir USA opened I decided that things were going to change because in Euro I never really ended up with a decent kit or much money as I was too nice. I quickly became one of the highest lvl'ed Tao's and started killing boss's over and over, mainly MTK, BL, RME and EC with a small group of friends, eventually I got my rarest drop ever... a Soul Sabre! Unfortunately I was only level 61 at the time so still had to do 9 levels before I could use it lol. Despite it being the crapest level 70 weapon I was over the moon.

I have god knows how many other stories of euro and usa mir, hours spent waiting for ghoul cave to open to the first time the entire server when Evil Mir hunting :P

Crikey, splash plastic cards, that brings back memories lol.

I remember just about every name mentioned here. I don't think any other Mir has been able to compete with the original euro-Mir.

Fun times. :)

Mir USA was a funny one. My guild DooM fought everyone and everything on that server. It didn't quite recapture what euro was but was fun. I also remember having a big fight as KS and 3 of my guild getting banned for cheating... None of them cheated and I was confirmed that by one of the GMs who I was a personal friend with. It was a good game but what ruined it for me was the removal of body drops.

I was one of the biggest griefers and richest players in Mir 2 when GN had it and must admit EDDS was one of the few people who would rarely join in when everyone attacked me :P

I remember one of the GMs going to ban me as I was so fast I could outrun RMEs hits... Good times.

Hell I remember one of my guild members beating someone at mirstock, another one shagging the leader of one of the biggest guilds in the game and her using my laptop which was keylogged and I robbed her DSS and everything...

So many stories, so many happy memories.

I went to Mir-stock :D

Me too! which did you go to? i went 2 years in a row as it was organized about 5 miles away from where i lived. I cant remember the years but i went to one where the guys from mir3 attended and gave beta access to everyone and i also went the year previous to that. I only really remember an old guy covered in tattoos from apex and a woman drinking white Russians.

Its incredible how many people that i encounter that have played this game, when you think how small it was compared to WoW etc. even more so bumping into some one that went to mir stock as it only have about 30-50 participants.

Akbarr was the guy who ran Mir 3 so might of been him? He hosted the first Mirstock on his farm I believe it was, the 2nd one was on a camping site ( the one were my mate got kicked out for smacking up Scooby1 ) and I didn't go to any after that. Although the guy that bought Ginglow and TCO (Mohammid?) went one year and had an onterage of security, that was when the newer school players went which were the likes of mcziao, SkyoWarrior, AfghanHuddar etc.

Some guy pked me once while I was banned, so I said I'd merk him on my main ( typical comment by low level scrubs who didn't have a main ) anyway I got unbanned, I merked him, we chatted turns out we went to the same college lol. We're still really good mates now.

One thing I liked about mir was the amount of ****s on it, seriously the amount of birds I met up with due to having an "online" relationship with them was crazy.

Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, people playing all games, but especially MMOs, had a willingness to learn that isn't there anymore. There's no hand-holding. No quests to follow. You're given a character to play, and this world to explore, and that's it. If you need help, you ask a fellow player - if neither of you know, you figure it out together. Probably because it was my first MMO, I'd find myself amazed at every new discovery or piece of information I came upon.

I was stunned by the generosity of a player giving me my first Ebony Sword, free of charge. I remember seeing the first player wearing level 11 armour and I decided to follow him, to see what incredible beasts he would be fighting - surely not the deers and scarecrows I'd been slaying for the last few hours. I ended up inside a dark cave - the first one I'd ever been in - and I immediately died to what I think was a giant scorpion.

(I'm sorry, you'll have to indulge me. I've found being nostalgic is kind of fun, and I can't seem to stop typing.)

I remember going back to that cave 5 or 6 levels later, myself now equipped in my new shiny light armour, and I come upon a group of people fighting a big red skeleton: we form a team; a few of us die, but then so does it; they ask me if I want to join their guild, and so I do (I had no idea what a guild was at the time). I make new friends, one of whom informs us that he is leaving this small guild to join one of his friends in True Family, one of the top guilds on the server. I ask if I can go with him, and he gets me in contact with their leader (Abelar, I think - I'm not too good at remembering all the names).

My first day in True Family we go on a guild hunt to Wooma Temple. I'm told stories of the Kings Room, of how it is deadly in there, how I should stay away from the walls or I could get cornered, how if I died that was the run over for me, because none of the higher levels would come and hold my hand back there again. After a very long run there (my first time past the first floor of WT), we make it into the KR. Another guild is already there, one I'd not yet heard of. The guild is Apex, who've gone on to be quite famous within the MMORPG scene. I'm told how their leader Wayne is the best player in the game (probably rubbish but I swallow it up). I'm told they have a strict level 33+ policy, a level I'm still way off, and that they have the most level 40s on the server (but we had more Dragon Slayer Swords, FWIW). Predictably, they get the Woomataurus, and we settle for a Wooma Guardian - he drops a ruby ring and I'm given my first rare item. I was over the moon.

Fast forward a long time, after killing all the bosses in the game, holding Sabuk Wall, making loads of money, and befriending many of the best players in the game, True Family disbands. Most of their top players join a guild called Divinity. Divinity is short-lived, partly because one of the founders fell out with most of us, and partly because we had found a better name: Revival.

Immediately I was considered a relatively prominent member of this new guild (the leader Zorin / Opel liked me). We had different principles to True Family, which by their name were predictably fairly friendly. We quickly became the strongest guild on the server, and we were going to flex our muscles. I'm sure if you played Dragon Server at the time and you weren't in the guild, you probably hated us. We'd go to every Kings Room, and get every boss. If there was anybody there, we wouldn't do the civilized thing and "join the queue" - we'd kill them. If we were there, the boss was ours. We'd gatecrash Sabuk Wars. We held it for a record number of days before a big alliance of other guilds took it off us. We'd relish being at war with as many guilds as possible, because PvP was what we were good at.

I'd log in and there'd be 5 different things to do. We'd have people in ZT KR, people waiting for Evil Centipede, people fighting a war. I think one night we managed to kill every boss on the server as well as hold Sabuk Wall in the space of a few hours. I'd gotten really good at the game. I had good gear, and the guild recognised me as a good player so invested in giving me some of the best loot that dropped. I believe I was the first Wizard with both Flame Field and Mirroring (the two strongest and rarest wizard skills) on either server. I had a Protection Ring. I was trusted to hang on to the guild's first Heaven Armour drop, and one of the first on the server. I had millions in gold. The guy who was amazed at being given an Ebony Sword.

I could go on all night. I won't. I doubt anybody's even going to read all this, though I don't mind. I'm just happy to reminisce.

Never played but very similar to my UO experience! Man I miss the good old days! :)

Used to play Euro DoomLord Dragon and SirWizAlot on pheonix.
have played 100's of games since and none have come close the private servers never really lasted long before they become a money pit for players charging £100's of pound sor weapons and armour that had been pimped to the point it was pointless trying to play for free.

Benn and I had a little understanding I would Go red for 8-10 hours a week blasting him with thunder bolts lol but was all fun

I have tryed and still am trying to find the untouched Euro files in hope of getting a real server up and going would in hope it would bring people back to the game but as yet all files that i have found have been mod'ed to the point it's not worth working on to put straight.
ok might have to add a few things like better XP but no silly crap like kill a chicken and get 64k+ xp x2 maybe and have people start at lvl 20 no gem or orbing back to BIO.
Have drops that mean something when you get them like it used to be you jot a J-Mace you knew you got a sweet weapon.
have a few new maps thats all good but nothing silly where 1 dude can go there and beat the crap out of ZT WT solo like 1 server I played in 1 day i was able to get to lvl 90 and kill over 100 WT's and ZT's and that was a bad day I quit after day 3 due to fact I was bored of getting everything too easy.

any way Hi and if any one knows of untouched Euro files let me know not the assasin ones just TAO WARRIOR AND WIZARD.

thanks
