Let's talk cheese

Yeah, some cheese smell bad, but don't taste bad.

Rinsed ones generally do like stinking bishop.

Why was I drunk and why don't I have an ear for French. So many good cheese that night.
I'm hoping the pave d'alffoni is the big creamy mild square cheese I had It was simply stunning.

Pleased to see Teddington Cheese is being well suported by the OcUk massive. We're getting our Wedding cake from there!

Right, I'm making a cheese board for my father. What would be your three recommendations? I want a strong blue cheese, a very smelly runny cheese (I'd use Munster but can't get it) and maybe a cheddar sort of thing. I'll be going to a cheese monger, not a supermarket.
The port is already bought.

My favorite cheese is cathedral city mature cheddar, does this mean im a cheese peasant?

I do like a good smoked cheddar if any one has any suggestions or alternatives that may be good to try.

Y'know Munster (smelly strong flavoured soft white French cheese) looks dam like Taleggio (smelly strong flavoured soft white Italian cheese).

Colston Basset Stilton, Epoisses & Isle of Mull Cheddar

Thanks guys. Epoisses is probably going to go in, and Isle of Mull Cheddar sounds like a good idea as we have fond memories of Mull together. Haven't heard of Colston Basset before, but I'll make a point of trying it if my mongers have it in stock.

I don't want to buy the stuff too early, namely because I don't want something like Epoisses stinking up my fridge, so will probably come back to this thread in a week or two.

I'm just going to go to Glasgow's cheese monger (amazingly, there are only 2 in the city AFAIK!) and let them recommend something similar and give me lots of free tasters! :D

George Mewes or I J Mellis? Any preference?

Never been to either but need to get a nice roquefort for a present and a few for myself. Frustrating there's nothing more central/east.

I went to the Cheeseman the other day.

Got:
Whisky Cheese - still in fridge
Cranberry and Wenslydale - third cheese to be eaten
Applewood - second cheese to be eaten
Jarlsberg - demolished in seconds - I absolutely adore this stuff....
