Yes both. Whilst playing Days Gone the screen went black for around 2 seconds then came back on again. Same happened whilst typing a reply on here.

i had the same issue, nothing for the first 10 days or so of use and then progressively it just got worse and worse until i was getting them every 20 mins. Overclockers collected it last week, i was offered a replacement when they become available but not a chance am i having another one, never mind the wait time to actually get another one. I am gutted as i really liked the monitor aesthetically, its features etc. No idea what to get as its replacement, likely wait a few months and see what else comes to the table. I was tempted by the m28u but gigabyte as a company, well im just not keen on their products.

For me the black screen can go away on its own randomly for a week. Then it comes back. Made me think whatever random stupid fixes I did worked. It didn't.
The noise of my monitor is still bothering me.

Since rtings didn't get a problem with their unit, LG might never fix this issue. I submitted a ticket and the rep offered to put the report in their database for their engineers to look at. I submitted the same ticket again with another rep over a week later and they say they never got a single report of black screen and couldn't find any such ticket for their engineers. So the support staff have been lying to me.

The poll here now tips over 50% of people saying they have the issue. Why anyone would buy this monitor knowing all this is beyond me. Or they just don't care about VRR for some reason. If I RMA my monitor I have no monitor with DP/HDMI to use while it ships off the somewheresville. Time to buy M28U. Oh wait, it's out of stock.

One more thing. With the issue being so intermittent, sometimes going away for days or more than a week even gaming 8 hours a day, sometimes popping in quite often, you can totally review a monitor and not catch the problem. That's assuming they're part of the let's say, 50% of owners who have the defect in the first place. That's why why I first got my monitor, when I was busy testing 4k resolution, pixel density, contrast ratio on my own, I missed this defect. Best Buy has a warranty of only 15 days and I caught it on like the 17th day. So... don't expect reviewers to catch the issue, for LG to be notified from the reviewers and fix anything.

As far as I'm concerned we're screwed.

Maybe what we can do is leave negative reviews on the LG website or something to try to get their attention.

I’m annoyed because I didn’t experience any issues until I’d owned it for over 30 days taking me outside the return period. I’m not confident that LG will even acknowledge the black screen problem let alone fix it. Windows 11 launched officially today but guess what, the control software doesn’t work with it. No monitor us detected.

See here.

Agreed but sadly for this to happen it needs to be spoken about on a much bigger scale.

A tech channel needs to get this monitor and have this black screen issue happen.

100% a problem, I personally wouldnt buy, firmware updates for monitors seem to be a rare thing.

I remember my previous BenQ the DP port didnt work properly 99% chance firmware issue, and a lifetime bug.

I did post a review on OCUK to try and warn people of some of the many issues I've got with it... no idea what's happened to it.

Good luck with LG, they're known to hate fixing/returning this specific monitor.
So the local repair guy came and took my monitor. He said "I'm here to look at your TV" "Oh it's a monitor, never been called out for a monitor before" "yeah its gonna need a new screen" and off he went with it.
When I asked about timescales he said he didn't know.

So I ordered a Gigabyte M32U instead. Lets hope I end up with a refund or I will end up with 2 £750 monitors.

Same thing happened to me, the guys that LG are contracting whilst they move their repair shop appear to be TV guys. They didn't say anything about a new screen to me, but they did say "you should hear back in about a week", that was last Tuesday, so i'll probably call up LG tomorrow for an update.

I'm half expecting a "couldn't replicate the issue" or a "need replacement parts, no ETA"....

think it will be replaced but i am seriously considering just getting a refund and buying something else given the sheer volume of people having issues with this monitor

If I get a replacement for mine, I intend to sell it on ebay, maybe even make a few quid profit if I'm lucky. But I would feel bad for the new owner and grief it will likely end up giving them.
