Fingers crossed it's fixed... reset motherboard bios; weird if it does fix it as I've not changed anything since building the PC well over a year ago.

Might update bios at a later date if it remains stable for awhile.
If you have tried updating the firmware on the screen and tried different cables I would contact LG for repair

That's the thing... everything was working ok with an older Nvidia driver until a few months back I updated the driver and 144Hz stopped working after a reboot (black screen).

What's even stranger is that if I roll back the Nvidia driver 144Hz works Ok again but I can't stay on that old game ready driver forevermore so I figured I'd update the monitor firmware.

Thanks for sharing the link for firmware updates :)

So, I just registered here to reply to this comment. I hope it is ok that I am reviving an old thread.

My 27GP950 firmware version is 4.04, 39, 6.05, which I have not seen anyone in this thread mention that they have these three versions together. It seems like maybe I got a weird mix of the three firmwares somehow.

I just installed Nvidia driver 561.09, coming from 551.23. I like to run my monitor with DCS disabled (using the Displayport version 1.4 No DSC in the monitor OSD). After installing 561.09, my 27GP950 at 120 HZ was restricted to YCbCr422 8-bit/10-bit with Limited color range with DSC disabled. I tried reseating the cable and removing power from the monitor and this did not allow 120HZ RGB 8-bit Full color range, which worked fine with driver 551.23. With driver 561.09, if I enable DSC in the monitor OSD, I can run 144HZ RGB 8-bit or 10-bit. I rolled back to driver 551.23 and the 120HZ RGB 8-bit Full option returned.

What is strange is the behavior with DSC disabled between the two driver versions. DSC disabled= limited bandwidth over displayport, while enabling DSC allows for 'original' bandwidth. The only change is the driver version. Someone in r/Nvidia suggested I update the 27GP950 firmware, but I am now hesitant to do so since reading your post about being stuck at 60HZ.

I believe this has to do with some 'new' DSC changes in the Nvidia driver and, unfortunately, there is very little information on when DSC is active and what compression ratio is being used.

I am curious if you ever solved this problem and what GPU you are using. Also, can anyone else chime in on my firmware version 4.04, 39, 6.05 and the possibility that I have a Frankenstein firmware install?

EDIT: I have thought about upgrading my GPU soon and after this Nvidia driver problem, I am wondering if a new AMD GPU would have the same problems?
EDIT 2: It would be nice if LG mentioned in their changelog which firmware is included in each install of On Screen Control!
