LG 42-inch OLED

Really tempted by this just worried it might be too damn big. Desk depth of 65cm.

Its a difficult answer really. I cut out a mock size of the actual size of the TV on some amazon cardboard and blue tack stuck it to where I would mount the TV......

Then realised that was still tad useless, it does give you a sort of idea but when its really in front of you and switched on only then you can tell for sure.

I have an 80cm desk and still sit back a good 1.2+ metres but its too much for me (42C2) so my 28" 4K is a my daily screen. This is not saying though for 100% its not for you, many have done it and are fine I think 28" and 32" size is the sweet spot for a daily monitor use for my personal taste.

I use my 42C2 for YT and doubling up presentation, but more for tv/movies and technically its still the best 42"/43" bedroom size TV on market.

A word of caution certain stores are getting picky on returns, JL being the worse one of late they really don't like taking back TVs if you simply say not right for me or they might attempt to put carriage fees and 10-15% off it.

After much thought I think I’m going to hold off for the 1440p oled at 27 inches. It’s going to be more suited for desktop for me.

Got an 800mm depth desk and it's pushed right to the back, it's juuuuuust fine for my purposes. I don't think I could do it with a 65cm desk would probably give me a headache lol

That’s my biggest concern. And my desk is only fairly recent and cost me a small fortune to put together as it’s so long. Think 42 is going to be too big. Such a shame there aren’t any other options at the moment.

hmm, I have a 65" desk and just taking the plunge. I have an LG 34" ultrawide at the moment. Width is pretty similar to the 42", obv I get a lot more vertical screen real estate. We'll see when I get it I guess!

Wow. I'm not sure i would want a 42" at 52cm never mind a 48"!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I think a lot depends on how tall you are, with how much reach you have. I don't sit with my abdomen pressing against my desk.
This is no different to having four 24" monitors together in a control room...
It's worked well for me the past 13 months with 100% scaling.

Prior to 48" C1 I had an LG 38" Ultrawide which was pretty much the same width as the 48" C1.
Mine is a WBE panel which I gto from JL just over two weeks ago. :)
That's good to know. Hopefully mine is too.

Guys have been adding mdf or timber on the end of their desk and re-doing the vinyl sticker on top or desk matt or giant mouse pad to cover entire desk, but the general vibe is getting as much distance between yourself and the 42" is key.

Otherwise the 27" LG OLED is coming perhaps spring next year but its not 4k, not sure about the 32" version monitor coming out much after but am hoping that one is 4k but won't be surprised if it is not.

This is with the current 48" C1 where I sit 70cm away from it. Since 2014 I've mainly used 40" monitors like the first Philips 4K monitor that came to market to take advantage of the extra real estate that 4K offers.
So having such a big screen is not so overwhelming like you may think, as like anything, you adapt to it.

42" C2 is coming Wednesday, so I will give a photo comparison of the two.

Nice! Fits the width of the desk nicely, although the 42 you may find to be more pleasant overall. Be interested to hear what you think.

I tried the C2 back in August and I returned it for what is my current 3423dw. The C2 was around £1k at the time, and the remote conflicted with my 48 CX that's also in the same room, and it was winding me up, and I guess I didn't give it much time.

With my recent GPU upgrade, I'm so tempted to try the c2 42 again, especially with the JL deal that's currently on, plus the extra 5yr protection cover which covers burn in.

Anyone know how to stop c2 / cx remotes from pestering each other's TV's? I'll have a google around and see what I can find in the mean time.

Same-brand infrared remotes will always interfere as they're dumb device with no feedback. You can use a 2022 LG remote on a 2012 telly.

The Magic Remote however should pair and use 2.4GHz data link. Only the power button remains infrared after the TV is on and link established. Do you find other buttons interfere?

There are ways to set up remote power on for these TVs using a PC and probably phone, but it's buried in one of the threads on this forum and not to hand :)

Found this thread on how to separate remote signals: https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-sepa...I-want-to-turn-each-on-and-off-with-their-own

You're right tho, you can use the LG app to turn it on and off, but bit of a nuisance. If I can get the TV's to not interact with each other, then winner! One would turn the other on and whatever I pressed it'll do it on the other tv etc.
