LG 42-inch OLED

I noticed there seem to be some good deals popping up for the LG B4 48" is it any good as a full time monitor for working on in a home office alongside using it for xbox gaming, or is the c4 a much better option?

Don’t think you’d be disappointed. Just be wary of the upgrade regret if you settle for the lower model

Hi, after many years I've finally joined the using a PC with an OLED monitor as I picked up a LG C4 42" last week, and all good so far.

One thing I have noticed though is I can't get Windows 11 HDR to work. If I toggle the Use HDR switch from Off to On the screen blanks for a second, then goes back to Off.

I have a MinisForum UM790P that runs a AMD Radeon 780M Graphics card and I send the HDMI output to a Denon AVR-X1600H AV Amp which then goes to the LG C4 monitor. I have my XBox and PS4 also connected to my Denon Amp.

When I go to Settings->System->Display->Advanced Display I see the following:

Desktop Mode: 3840 x 2160, 59.94 Hz
Bit Depth: 8-bit
Colour format: YCbCr420
Colour Space: Standard dynamic range (SDR)
HDR certification: Not found

Is there a fix for this, maybe a setting on the LG monitor itself I need to set, or Windows 11 setting?

First two things I would try would be to connect it directly to the PC first to see if it's the amp or a cable causing the problem and if that fails then try swapping the cable.

Only time I've seen mine have a similar problem was when I tried to use a cheap DP to HDMI adaptor

I just realised that the HDMI cables I am using were bought from Amazon back in 2017, I guess they may not even be 2.0a not sure how I can tell. Guess I'll order some 2.1 cables and try them.

This is the first HDR capable TV I have bought, I was using a Samsung 40MU6400 40" TV as a monitor, heck I bought that back in 2017 also and been using that TV as a monitor for nearly 8 years. That TV wasn't HDR ready. Got my money's worth out of it though that is for sure.

More than likely it's the cable then assuming the amp is capable of outputting hdr as well

I got C4 42 month ago and love it - this is after 5 years of having CX 48.
42 inch is better, especially that I sit about 50cm from the panel.
Interesting I'm on the lookout for a c4 42 or 48, I'm undecided which to get to replace my current 40" tv which I use as a monitor. I'd been leaning on getting the 48 as my son also uses the study for xbox with mates. My main concerns are lack of usbc so having to use a hdmi adapter which I currently do today, I would have loved usb-c for signal and charging my macbook. Any other issues with it as a full-time monitor?

No issues really. After all those years I think its the best screen I ever used.
I'm actually selling new OLED 48" CX - I got it from Richer Sounds as a warranty replacement for my old one for 60% of the price.

With the BLC I can get a 42" C5 for £1200 and a sound bar.. is there any point from going from a C2 to a C5, other than the refresh rate being 24hz more with VRR is there anything major I am missing out on?

Would you like a new CX48 with brand new soundbar for £700? ;)

Seen a video on YouTube. Displayguy. Said colours on the c5 are better

Currently have a LG EVO C3 OLED 42 and altho7gh it's an awesome display when I purchased based it in Dec 23 there were none of the current 240HZ Oled 32 inch screens around .

Has anyone changed over toa 32 240 HZ oled and regretted it? Must be worth £400 in the MM ?

I went from a lg c2 42 inch to a asus pg32ucdm, it depends on what type of games you play, for me mainly playing fps like call of duty the 32 inch was better but I feel if you play games like tomb raider or driving games then the 42 will be better immersion

Is it safe to play games on this TV (I have C3 42) in ultrawide from time to time or do I risk uneven screen wear? Common sense tells me I am good as long as I keep using both aspect ratios for gaming anternately, right?
Played loads of hours in ultra-wide (3840 x1600) without any problems. Obviously not all of the time, but a good 30% of my gaming and I game a lot. As long as you pixel refresh every now and again you will be fine.

What refresh rate are OLED TVs now a days, 120hz?
I had a quick look in Currys the other day and the OLED Evo OLED55G45 LW.AEK stood out the most.
