LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

What is this obsession with smaller screens ? Just move the TV further if it seems too big for you, not rocket science!
This was not an intelligent comment to make, but I am guessing you just didn't think it through before submitting the post.

How do you keep moving a monitor back from a desk against a wall?

You wall mount the TV and pull the desk slightly away from the wall. You'd be surprised at what a few more inches can make. :D

That's what she said? :p:D

Pulling my desk away from the wall would look fugly. Rather just wait for something smaller, I am in no rush :)

Good write up from TFT central on selecting an OLED for gaming & TV etc. All the pro's and cons.

Apologies if posted before

Yup...

The Size is impractical for many -The size of these OLED TV's in totally impractical for normal close up desktop usage for most people, even the smallest OLED options like the new 48" LG CX48 is too big really. That's just not a comfortable size for normal close up viewing positions and on a typical desk. Even "monitors" in 40 - 43" size that we've tested in the past such as the Asus ROG Strix XG438Q are not really comfortable for these uses in our opinion. You end up with a sore neck and constantly having to move your head around to see different areas of the screen. Sure, they might be ok if you can position it a bit further back than normal and have a deep desk, but for most people that's not practical for a desktop setup. The sheer size of an OLED TV is also impractical for many people in terms of how much space they have in a home office or bedroom, often being far too big for their desk or general PC space.

Just move the tv back mate, not rocket science :p:D

Too funny that comment.

The size thing isn't an issue for a predominantly gaming setup; for third person just roll your seat back a bit and get the feet up - just like couch gaming. For 1st person K&M you want to be close for immersion, so not an issue.

For general desktop use, work etc. then I agree this would not be comfortable.

When I first put it on my desk I was thinking that this was a big mistake but now the size is fine. Sat back in my chair a bit with my arms extended to the M&K and that is plenty far away for me. Oh and it is amazing and we are not even using it to it's full potential yet.

My Vega 64 doesn't seem to be capable of 1440@120Hz (goes to black screen with only sound), is this a limitation with AMD? I'm using a HDMI 2.1 cable and my 1080ti is fine with it.

Also, and apologies if it's been asked previously, is the HDMI 2.1 cable spec going to be fine for 4K@120Hz when new GPUs are released with the capability?

I don't think the panel becomes G-sync compatible (freesync - thus AMD card) is available on that panel until the TV receives a firmware update in late 2020. AFAIK this TV is currently only G-sync thus only works with Nvidia cards at the moment. I could be wrong but from all the speil in the AVforums thread on this panel I noted that the G-sync compatible bit comes via that firmware update.

I don't own the panel yet so hopefully someone comes along and says it does work already. Or am I thinking about VRR?
