LG 48CX OLED - 4K 120 Hz

ty that'll do nicely. I dont have the 3080 yet (like most people) but i'm assuming i can still use this cable with my 1080ti in it's normal hdmi and just run at 1440p 120hz until i do

So, in effect, the 1440 pixel output contains bigger pixels (the picture is more “blocky”) than in 3840x2160 but it's your choice:p

Just an update - the smell from the back of the TV seems to have gone away now. Just a faint smell of plastic after it's been on a while but assume that's normal.

Took about 7-8 days for it to disappear.

Is this acceptable white uniformity?

Depends do you notice it during film/tv watching in general and is it getting in the way ?

This is why I have not really gone through the white and grey 5% scale slides, really the only thing I checked for is dead pixels out the box and banding test but its one of those things you dont want to know it yet do !

I think I have noticed some slight blue tint on my left hand side also. There is also a interesting post you may wish to read here:

To cut a long story short, d-man a popular LG oled TV calibrator he has said LG OLEDS tend to push blue more than other colours, so he gave his calibration settings out which many have done and had good results. While it's not as good as having the TV calibrated maybe worth a shot to see if it improves your panel, If it does let us all know.

Ah thats good to know, thanks. I think I will be sending mine back regardless though..

I just can't make it work with my desk and room layout. My 80cm deep desk isn't enough and the way my room is laid out, with windows behind me facing the screen (albeit 2 or 3 metres away) the glare becomes difficult to manage during the day.

Having said all that, i'm completely sold on the tech and if/when a smaller oled screen hits the shelves I will be throwing money at that.

The blue issue is real - even with warm2 it needs a negative white offset. My settings are identical to those on that thread (bar the extended 22 point options).

Well you know your stuff if your settings is similar, it's hard to be 100% really since many with replacement panels it's a bit of a lottery sometimes.

If the blue is an issue during gaming and TV general watching it's hard to not notice it once you have spotted it and if it's not improving after a few auto pixel refreshes and few weeks use it's doubtful the issue goes away totally.

Was it like that even with TV defaults from first day? and how long you got to return it ?

Update I just tried the pure white screen test via test pattern, mines much more blue than yours on both the left and right side of screen but only when I take a picture on my phone but in person it's not as bad and interrupting the viewing at all.

A full pixel refresh is supposed to help uniformity, DSE and banding but obviously not recommended running too many of them (probably 1-2) and probably what the tech/engineer will recommend you try if you are keen to attempt it to see if it improves before a return.

Having mine replaced with the 55" and moving it to an exclusive gaming/movie only setup.

As much as it pains me to say, crappy LED backlights are superior for use as a work monitor - an even low contrast ratio across the screen is far more comfortable for all-day use. The glare and bloom caused by per-pixel illumination takes me back to the CRT days of constant eyestrain.

I prefer my crappy LED also for monitor and LG for TV, you have to do what you feel is best for your eyes at the end of the day :)

I wonder if you read all this thread!, I have an windows behind me, but I use common senses not to return my CX for a small problem so to fix it is to cover the window in day time when the sun it out. As we all know OLED have a glossy screen so don't make out it's OLED problem because it not and you only trying to find fault with it just to return it also I have just a 73cm desk and it works for me with my CX 55inch there will never be a small 32inch OLED because it wouldn't sale also it would cost LG to spend more money on smaller OLED glass cutting and allots of glass waste.

I see blue tint on the sides or maybe just my old eyes

If it were a pc monitor, I would return it immediately. It seems the sides are darker?

if you sat there watching just a white screen your eyes will see pinks, blue, blacks and so on and even your eyes will play tricks on you at the end so you only do this to find a fault? @800nits

Who here has mounted this on a Ergotron HX with a vesa adapter?

seen a few on YouTube have and intrigued to know how it works. Ergotron have literally just released a heavy spring mod that supports the G9 properly, and that monitor weighs the same as the CX48 without a stand and due to the curve, is actually harder to support.

wonder any best deal for CX today black friday ?

30 quid off am seeing from the regular places, black nothing as usual even 4-5 weeks ago they had at least £100 gift vouchers and £100 free FN4 ear phones.

I declare we rename "Black Friday" to "ordinary Friday" :p
