LG c9 OLED

Same here. Had an LG 65EF960V not long after it was launched. All i do is watch tv and blurays though. Had it calibrated by Vincent Teoh after i had had for 3 months and have just been gobsmacked with it ever since. No sign of any burn in either, maybe having it properly calibrated has something to do with that.
Far too many peeps prepared to dump £3K+ on a telly and then not prepared to have it properly calibrated, thinking "they know better" and use some settings they got off of the net.

Left my B9 standard as no ***** are given, looks great out the box. :p

I remember people warning me against buying a plasma, due to image retention and burn-in, or that it wouldn't be good in bright rooms etc. In the 7 years I had the telly, I ended up with some burn-in which was only visible in very dark scenes, as we used to have subtitles so the black bars remained.

Same warnings before I bought my C9. So much so that I was worried about the performance in my extremely bright south facing living room w/ patio doors next to the TV. As soon as I got the C9 I had to lower the brightness, it was that bright. My gf told me 'Why were you concerned, even in the mornings with the curtains drawn back it's fine'.

I appreciate early technology might have been problematic, but I think the issues are blown out of proportion due to how popular these sets are.

Same here there is so much over reaction and subjective quackery in the industry.

Let me give you my own example

Before the C9 I owned a QLED and at day time the room is bright and even with that bright room I stil never went over 40% brightness otherwise my eyes would hurt.

fast forward to the C9 everyone is saying it's so dim and it's really bad for a bright room... I only use my c9 at 55% brightness/OLED light otherwise it's too bright for my eyes

still nice sets

902b day-light viewing ? c9 darkened ?

oled run hot (consume power), versus lcd, hence one of the reasons they are not, so much, in laptops,
Panasonic oled's hdr is brighter because they have custom heat sinks, so they go brighter without impacting 'burn in' ...
to me, it is unclear at what point EU power regulations are responsible for the ABL automatic brightness level, versus, burn-in concerns.

I'll be honest, I'd pick the C9 every single moment of the day.
The only reason my 902B is still my used screen is that its connected to a 5.1.2 KEF sound system and its obviously burn in resistant.

Yeah the panny OLED tech looks ace. I think only their highest end TVs have the heatsink.
Still panny OLEDs are missing HDMI 2.1 and gsync.

In terms of upgrading the 902B.. I personally couldn't find it in myself to upgrade from a 65'' TV to a 65'' TV.. so the 77'' has put me in an awkward position financially lol.

Yup! In our small lounge the C9 for SDR content is at an OLED light of 30 for SDR content. and for terrestial TV its at 15 (cos of channel logos) and is still much brighter than our plasma.

My panny 902B has never been above like a 23 on the light setting.

HDR is where you need brightness, and you need brightness WITH blacks, otherwise the picture in my opinion just does't look right.

I've had a small play with my c9, has anyone got VRR working with an early Xbox one? I can't see whether mine supports it or not, but the is an option in the menu on the console however it's grayed out).

prices are falling .. hotuk caught my eye this morning currys
48cx6lb 1500
48cx5lc 1299
not sure if there is a stand, or , significant spec, difference

Holy pants! A day late! Ggggrrrrrrrr.

e: oh replace 20apr200 with 20may200 :)

Nice :)

They've just rang me to confirm delivery for tomorrow.

I looked at the CX but it's a huge amount more money for virtually nothing groundbreaking extra. The C9 is already going to be a massive upgrade for me so I'm really not fussed about not having the very latest model.
