LG c9 OLED

I might have to bite the bullet on a C9 65 -I'm tempted to hold off until Richer Sounds LG sound bar promo expires in the hope of either abetter promo or a small price drop - what do you think?
I think there's a good chance C9 stock will run out and you'll be disappointed. Hard to predict though.

Arragh. I was going to go Q90R and wait for the Panasonic 2000b to come down in price, but I am weak - I've ordered an E9 as I couldn't resist getting the oled picture quality that people rave about. I was going C9 but noticed RS had the E9 for not much more. I hope the panel god is good to me.

The pic on the c9 is fantastic... but wtf is with the sound. Defo need a soundbar...

I think the E9 is the one to get for some half decent sound.

But I think it's pretty much a given that a big percentage of anyone buying a TV at this end of the market is going to be using some kind of external audio setup.

How much did you pay for the E9? It's listed at £2200 on RS atm, and there are C9 deals for £1800.

£2099 from RS with the £100 off voucher. Comes with a 6yr warranty.

They also have a soundbar offer on, but I have a separate av setup to use.

I was sure I saw a post about the 'screen saver' backgrounds the TV shows, and specifically about removing the 'no signal' message from over the top of it. But I can't find it now, and I can't find howe to do it in the menus. Can anyone help?

How do you display the picture without the no input label there all the time ?
theres normally a button with a tv screen and a + in the corner

From memory
:)

Cheers, no such button on mine. I can get it to display the screensavers without the message by using the picture gallery. But that's not achieving the aim of it doing this 'more prettily' automatically when the TV detects that the screen hasn't changed for ages.

That's a good point - although the "no signal" image is just that. Whereas after 60 seconds of no change on-screen I either get a dimmed picture (HDMI input) or a screen saver with exploding colours on a black screen (native apps).

The main reason to go E9 from C9 is for the audio. If you're using external, then you're paying an extra £300 for a style difference and an extra year's warranty (RGB Direct gives 5yr).

I'd be returning the E9 and going for the C9 if I were you. That clear section at the bottom of the E9 is much prettier than the C9's stand, but is it really worth £300?

It was a conscious decision to go for the E9; not only do I prefer the design, but the improved sound over the C9 will be ideal for the wife and the little one (she either can't fathom or simply refuses switching inputs on the AV and hifi amp :().

I also came across this: https://www.avforums.com/threads/ha...nel-grading-done-at-lg.2246900/#post-27375677

Slightly controversial and I'm not 100% convinced I believe it, but there you go.

I know, I have one. Neither her nor her mother can operate it correctly without getting into bother. I think it comes from having no patience or sympathy for my equipment

On the plus side my daughter who isn't even two, can get netflix up without ever having been shown. Takes after her dad thankfully :D

Bit the bullet for a 65 C9 from from richer sounds, priced match currys who have £100 of today + some. Apparently some of last batches of C9's produced and they are expected to receive towards end of week as now its CX only.

Will see how it compares with my 65" Q9FN which I love in terms of brightness and colour punch. Picked that over the B9 way back. But since then gaming on the TV often, G-Sync has come out, eARC (already have eARC receiver) and HDMI 2.1 for next gen GPUs makes this ideal if brightness works out okay in the room its going in.

Not sure what I lose / gain vs the CX, but coming in over £1k less see how it goes.

OLEDS are not as bright but they go much darker so the contrast difference is better. Even though it’s not as bright as a high end LCD it feels it as it is starting from a darker level.

Enjoy..... Once you have gone OLED there is no going back...lol.... Just spend some time setting it up how you like it.

CX isn't worth it if you get a C9 on discount, the only thing you actually miss out is Freesync support, its otherwise nearly identical which is also reflected in the rtings reviews

Wife agreed to let me get new telly for gaming room (she didnt want my hogging the main TV for gaming) I would love to get the c9 55" but the space its going in would leave around 1mm of space on either side. The desk its going on can wobble very slightly if a force is applied (cant wall mount as its a condition from wife when agreeing to new telly). I worry the side of the oled panel would smash against a wall. So its the 48" CX for me
