LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

Pulled the trigger on the CX 55 from JL, rationale being I can price match if cheaper on BF + it's £200 cheaper than the 48 + ordering now avoids potential BF stock/delivery issues.

Watching closely at the moment, new house purchase on Monday and this will be ideal! Tempted to go to Curry's as my partner gets 6% off making it £1691, and any further reductions before BF gets the difference refunded.
Get the 77’’ mate! Celebrate the house purchase!

A user a few pages back had a similar dilemma, went big as it was cheaper etc but after setting it up seemed to feel like I the 48 would have been the better buy

Yeah by lounge is pretty "snug" so I'm leaning towards 48", even with my "man eyes" 55" would just be too big for the room.

Good plan, I'm going to pull the trigger on a 48 LG CX and a SONOS ARC today.

Does anybody else think the inbuilt speakers on the CX are rather good ? i am playing the new COD game and i quite impressed with the sound they can produce.

Yep, 120Hz working fine on my 55 CX and RTX 3080.

Is your HDMI cable 40GBps certified?
potentially not... it did say 48gbps 8k supported, but I've ordered another from amazon to try with. Failing that, I will test with my ps5 cable when that arrives next week.

I did at some point (no idea how) get it to stay on 120hz but then there was no signal on the screen - so it could be the cable I guess!

Also just to check, I only get the 120hz mode appear at all with the deep colour and instant gaming settings on, is that correct?

Yes, the "HDMI deep colour" setting enables the HDMI port right up to full 4K@120Hz HDR bandwidth.

These are my Nvidia settings

If you want to verify that the TV is getting the full 4K 120Hz signal, just press the green button on the remote several times in quick succession and you will get this little window pop up that shows the current signal its receiving on that HDMI input.

3840x2160P @ 120hz
RGB 10 bit 4L10 (4L10 means 4:4:4 Chroma)

Thanks for that :) I’ve just had the second cable arrive and tried mirroring your settings... the result, tv no longer detected haha! I will see how the ps5 fares once that turns up.
I think it’s the change to 10bit that causes signal to go. Would that point towards the cable?

has anyone with a CX and a 30 series card managed to get 120hz working? I have the option in nvidia control panel, but as soon as I click accept, it reverts back to 60...

Have 2080 super and I'm not sure whether or not the latest NVidia driver has enabled 120 at 4k, because I was messing with FarCry new Dawn last night and I'm sure it was not enabled but is now. Also found out that some HDR settings only allow 60 as default and others 120. Using these cables

2080 Super only has HDMI 2.0 ports.

You need an RTX 3000 series card for 4K @ 120Hz. (HDMI 2.1 output port)

Must be as you're running 8-bit colour and 4:2:0 chroma, the cut down signal must be enough to squeeze 4k 120hz down the hdmi 2.0 connection.

Cannot pretend to understand this but I guess it not hurting performance to much, that's with HDR-10 as well if that makes any difference. Not for a Laptop anyway :)
