LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

Have you made sure the firestick resolution is definitely set correctly and that ultra deep hd colour is definitely switched on for the port you have it in. Seen a few articles of both these settings resetting themselves to defaults.

Yehh, tried that. It's the same on another TV I have as well (Samsung Oled). Max resolution I can get through Prime is 1080P (TV app or Firestick) - other streaming services are fine. Anyway - I've decided to get a player now and buy discs - I've had enough of streaming :D

Has anyone gone from a pioneer kuro 5090 to a 55CX? If so how do they compare. Motion is still the thing I love about the kuro.

I got my CX last week and I still haven't watched anything on it. Waiting to get an AV receiver in that will do it justice. I did get a receiver on Friday, but, it was faulty when it arrived and am just waiting for that RMA to be sorted.

Hope I can get one installed in time for some proper movie marathons over Christmas.

This is my first 4K TV and I am blown away by the 4K HDR pictures from the likes of the Mandalorian. I should have changed up sooner

Grats. People usually say that, I had a friend who played on a 480p tv with his ps3 for 4 years and during this time I kept telling him he NEEDS a 1080p screen - when he finally upgraded he admitted he should have much sooner

Motion is something some people are sensitive too. But BFI helps on the OLEDs I think.
OLED's have inherently poor motion for 24p content due to the instant pixel response time. I can provide you with timestamps if you like for films where this will illustrate the terrible motion issues which plague OLEDs. The problem is that once you see it, its hard to un-see it.

Plasmas, LCD panels and projectors all have far superior motion resolution for 24p content than an OLED. If you have access to the film 1917, I can provide you with one (or many) timestamps. The fix for this is to enable motion interpolation but that replaces film-like motion with... unnatural motion against director's intent (and it looks bad).

If people can ignore the motion issue, its great. I personally dealt with it fine until I used a Sony HW40ES projector. Then I realised how bad the LG OLED motion was in comparison. It wasn't just the motion processing; OLED's are fighting its own inherent flaws within the tech for 24p content. Since I used the HW40Es PJ, I found it VERY hard to go back to OLED motion because honestly the stutter occurs on average maybe every 5 minutes dependant on the film and content. Eventually I returned the 77'' GX/CX and now I am waiting to see if Sony next year can refine their motion handling capabilities to deal with the issues on the 77'' AH9 or whatever they call it.

I'm also waiting to see if JVC or Epson update their PJ lines with HDMI 2.1 and DTM.

OLED = amazing gaming displays, but im so surprised that reviewers don't bring up the flaws of OLED for 24p content.

Personal preference to the eye really.

I use to hate having any form of motion on my old BX, however I've found that with the CX the new mode cinema clear works really well.

Like above 1917 is a perfect movie for it. Try it with motion off, then try the below settings. Maybe it's not for you and my eyes are also different hah, but I find it feels and looks the nicest.

Real Cinema: On
Motion Eye Care: Off
TruMotion: Cinema clear

This is a stupid noob question from someone thinking of taking the plunge on OLED; is it easy to switch between settings? Like, can I have a different profile for different types of content so that I can switch easily between gaming and watching movies for example?
