LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

I've taken they plunge and upgraded my 55 B6 to a 65 CX. The B6 will be moved to the bedroom and get good use in there.

My main question is around getting the most of of HDMI 2.1 and eARC. My AV receiver is an Onkyo TX-NR676. It does 4K HDR/DV but not HDMI 2.1. When I get a PS5, is this going to cause a problem? Also, I'm guessing the built in Netflix app won't do Atmos and I'll need to use the Shield 2019 for it?

You can just hook the PS5 up to the TV's HDMI 2.1 port and then connect the TV to the AVR.

I'm thinking of getting a 65" OLED to replace an ancient cheapy 70" LG I have on the wall at the moment. This will be to go with an XBox Series X. I know chuff-all about what features I need. Would I be right in thinking that a 65 CX would allow me to play at 120hz and has up-to-date ports so that in 6 months time I won't be wishing I'd bought something different? I looked at the 2021 LG TVs and they all seem to be a big step up in price. I wish manufacturers would make it easier to distinguish between their model types than 45-letter codenames that you need to be a real enthusiast to investigate.

I need to convince my wife first, but she's just had a new kitchen so maybe it's my turn :D

Yes. Search reviews on YOutube to learn more (Digital Trends and HDTVtest).

Got the TV. Suddenly when you want to spend £1200 Richer Sounds became extremely helpful. Looking forward to it. Panny oled from 2018 can be retired to another room.

Thanks - I've had a look. I did notice while watching the review that the TV is thick at the bottom and super-thin at the top. Does this present any problems hanging it on a wall bracket? I've got an existing bracket where you screw some hooks into the back of the TV and then seat the TV on two horizontal wall mountings. I have the wires channelled, so anything that isn't a straight swap on the bracket using the cables already in place is going to make it a harder sell to my wife.

You can attach a wall mount to it no issues, but it isn't in the centre of the screen, it's exactly as you describe at the thicker part of the back panel. What this means is when you mount it on the wall, the screen will be higher up than if you'd just attached it to the centre of the screen like you'd do with other sets.

Thanks - unfortunately you bring bad news since I'd need to muck about with the bracket because I don't want a high TV. All I seem to do is drill holes into the walls of my house these days :)

The LG GX/G1 65inch 4K Smart OLED TV - Is the only TV that is flush to the wall and includes a slim wall mount bracket.

Here is a LG Video how to wall mount it :) hope it helps you;)

Starting to regret buying one of these. It's a nice TV but just let down by lack of support from LG.

I didn't realise until purchasing that it came with a lack of some free, on-demand features you would expect as basic such as 4OD and MY5. I don't watch live TV so this isn't much of an issue, but having wanted to try SteamLink and gone to search to find that isn't supported either, yet is with SOny and Samsung TV's. LG don't upgrade OS over time either so it's not like you will get any updates that would rectify this. Kind of feels like I've bought an expensive non-smart TV, since I now need something to make it smarter..

Note to self never buy another LG product since they lack future support.

Can anyone recommend the best way to game wirelessly on my TV via my PC in another room? I don't wish to buy an NvidiaShield since I only really want to game on a few controller based games, mostly singleplayer, but possibly Rocket League if the latency isn't dire. I tried using Windows 10's share feature - not even sure if this LG even uses MiraCast like previous models do - but it is really laggy, only 60fps and 1080p.
